and Lebeau as coordinator

Four players the Steelers developed made that "All-Decade" team.
Ward
Smith
Vrabel
Faneca
More than any other team. This while being amongst the winningest teams and having low draft picks.
The Steelers have been the best at player development and salary cap managment in the parity era.

Guys 3 Steelers were chosen. We cut Vrabel in the 90's and he made the all decade team as a Patriot.
Re: King chooses Ward for WR of his all decade team
Vrabel was drafted by the Steelers and played for four years. Cowher told him he wouldn't start for the Steelers, but could for other teams, so he left. Cowher liked Porter, Gildong, and I believe, Earl Holmes, ahead of Vrabel. Good judge of performance there.
Faneca is a jet now if you didn't notice.
My point is, the Steelers organization has been exceptional at drafting and solid in the free agent market, and even has done a good job of letting people go - Burress is a good example of that. I am not saying they are perfect, but I can't think of anyone who has done personnel management better.
Which has always driven my feeling that given the talent they have had, they should have had more super bowls.

Of course we know Faneca is a jet but he made the all decade team because of his dominant play with the Steelers. If you read the article, King even admits he is past his peak so the Steelers years were his merit.
I should have added Faneca myself as another poster did well in correcting.

Mr. King finally gave Hines and ASmith the props they deserve.
And yes, the Stillers would have more than 6 if not for the clumsy finagling of the
coach-in-waiting of the Carolina Panthers.
