Re: New Article: Best Bet Extra (Divisional Playoff Round)
1-3 last week is not very inspiring. Not only did I predict 3 out of 4 wrong, but I did nothing but munch chalk last week. Didn't even realize it...No wonder I blew my stack before week 15. The Patriots and Bengals picks both measured equal on the inexcusably ignorant scale. Cincinnati had zero physical presence on defense minus Maualuga. New England got beaten by Houston just 1 week earlier. I watched that game. Tom "First Ballot" Brady was mercifully removed with two minutes left. Thank goodness that game meant "nothing", because Brady would have flopped there too. If the Pro Bowl comes down to one possession to win the game, is there any question which QB leads the AFC? Uh, I'll take Big Ben should he get added to the roster . I will be surprised if Brady even plays, he must be too hurt. The Packers-Cardinals was a great game...So much for GB "holding on" like I said. Is their any reason Dansby doesn't get credit for a punt return TD on that play? Dallas continued to roll in Skelator's new palace. Sucks that the Black and Gold are not in the playoffs. But for the Pro Bowl, the Steelers are done for this season.
Cowboys +2.5 over Vikings- At the risk of being accused of heresy, Dallas right now reminds me of Pittsburgh from last year. Pittsburgh played the toughest games week in and week out and became better because of it. Minnesota is 8-0 this season at home and will need that advantage this week. If the Vikings don't run the ball they will be toast. The good news for all those cheering against the Cowboys is that the rush D is the softer part of that unit. Does anyone think Favre will assign a backup tight end to solo block Demarcus Ware a la Silverback? Maybe instead of a cross body, that clown will try a suplex this time. Fuking ridiculous. I'm looking forward to scouting Jasper Brinkley. I watched him a few years ago in college and thought he had a chance to be a good player. He will get a trial by fire trying to chase down Felix Jones. Jones is more explosive than Tashard Choice, but I think that TC is more valuable. He does it all in that offense. Losing either of those two guys could be big trouble. If Jason Garret finds a rhythm in his play calling he has a lot of weapons to use.
Saints -7 over Cardinals- Should be a lot of points. Drew Brees is as good as there is if he has time. Kurt Warner is exceptional vs the blitz, which Gregg Williams is likely to bring. It will be interesting to see if Arizona builds off that defensive TD which brought them a win last week.
Colts -7 over Rats- I will cheer for Baltimore, but they are not going to win. The Colts are weak in the secondary but the Ravens don't have the quarterback or receivers to attack here. Unless Baltimore starts fast again, an upset seems unlikely. Here's to hoping that Manning and his rookies are rusty
Jets +7 over SD- As inept as the Bengals were last week, Sanchez's performance was still worthy of praise. Of his 3 incompletions, two of them were drops. The pressure will be on the Jets defense to keep this game from becoming a 2 score affair. Taking points here is dangerous because when New York goes down, they could easily go down in a blaze of turnovers...I just can't lay claim to picking too much chalk again, nor can I find any legitimate cause to back the San Diego in January. I mean, the Chargers seem to be better than the team that lost to the Steelers last year, but that may be all the more reason to predict their demise.
