ST coach fired
, January 07, 2010
By Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
"Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin continued to make changes in his coaching staff today, firing special teams coordinator Bob Ligashesky, the Post-Gazette has learned.
Ligashesky, a McKees Rocks native, becomes the second assistant in as many days to be dismissed, joining offensive line coach Larry Zierlein.
The special teams were a major source of concern after the Steelers allowed four kickoff returns for touchdowns in a five-game span. The Steelers finished the regular season ranked 24th in punt coverage, allowing an average of 9.8 yards per return; and 30th in kick coverage, allowing an average of 24.3 yards per return, in the NFL.
It is not known who will be hired to replace Ligashesky, 46, but former Steelers special teams coach Bobby April (1994-95) is available. He waived the final two years of his contract with the Buffalo Bills, who fired the entire coaching staff this week, so he could be free to negotiate with another team."
Bobby April,report to Steeler offices!

Agree with Bobby April. How about Batch for QB coach while we're at it? I really like what I saw from Dixon, especially given the circumstances of that B'more game.

Shit, didn't see this thread when I just created another one.

Check out my post from a few days ago.
Charlie Batch as QB coach would do LOTS of things.
First and foremost, he has a good relationship with Ben and (I hate to say this)..Arians......
Second, it frees up his roster spot AND salary......
Now, lets go out and get a stud d-lineman. Big-Snack is fat, slow and getting old. Aaron Smith is old and injury prone.
Restructure the contracts of Big-Snack and Aaron Smith to make it cap-friendly and free up some $$$$$$......(if they decline, then, thanks for the memories guys, see ya)
Then, get a shut-down corner from free- agency or in the draft.......who's available??

Good fuckin BYE, This unit stank more than a Rotting deer carcass in summer.
Aside from some Logan retruns, There was no bright spot, Reeds limped leg Kickoffs gotta go!
