Who should be cut?

Postby steelandblood » Sun Jan 03, 2010 5:30 pm

We all know the Steelers will end up retaining some players who suck or are at the most exceedingly ordinary. Without just throwing up one's hands to dump the entire roster, who should definitely go?

Ryan Clark - I at least respected him dishing out the odd bonecrushing cheapshot because he knew he had to do *something* to get receivers to not tool him, but after whining and running his mouth the cunt needs out of town.

James Farrior - The dude's career is over. It's been over for two years.

Casey Hampton - I hate to say it, but his defiance in gaining all the weight he lost has shown his skillset isn't so unique at NT it can't be found in free agency or the draft again.

Limas Sweed - Stonehanded schoolboy bitch. Let him get on with his life's work.

Willie Parker - Unlike many of the names above, this one actually hurts. He's lost much of his agility, which makes him fast, but ordinary as a RB. We'd be better served to find another guy to trade snaps with Mendenhall and move forward.

Play Clark alongside of TP and I think he's a very good safety. I wouldn't get rid of him

Cut list:
1) Farrior (has lost too many steps)
2) Gay (falls down constantly, can't tackle. Even old man DeShea is more reliable)
3) Sweed (we have enough at WR to get by, and he dropped a HUGE TD pass in the first Cincy game, as well as other notable mishaps)
4) Tyrone Carter (not sure where he is in his contract, but he just isn't reliable at SS)
5) Spaeth (I'm sure a sucker team like the Redskins would give us a 3rd round pick for him)
6) Justin Hartwig
7) Willie Colon (although we may need to keep him because our only other option for RT is....Maxi-pad Starks)
8) Charlie Batch (can we please just let him go??)
9) AQ Shipley (why the hell did we draft this guy ?)

Keep list
1) Willie Parker - he is reliable, still speedy and is a nice compliment to Mendy. I see no reason to cut him.
2) Kemo - has developed nicely into a reliable LG, who is good at pulling around the right side and clearing out space. Still not a great pass blocker.
3) Nick Eason - has definitely improved
4) Ziggy Hood - has huge potential to help the run defense, and even some pass rushing
5) Stefan Logan - had a slow start, but consistently provided good kick returns late in the year. Huge improvement over previous return men.
6) Kiesel - when healthy, is an underrated beast

Shit-or-get off the pot list
1) Tony Hills (can he really be that much worse than what we have now?)
2) Craig Uribik (I know this was his rookie year, but we need production now at O-line)
3) Joe Burnett (again, a rookie, but we need DB help so urgently that he has to step up)

I'm going to try to be as nice as possible in replying to this post...

Similar to the consequences of Billy Madison's speech on "The Puppy That Lost His Way", everyone is now dumber for having read this post.

Farrior, Gay, Sweed, Hartwig, Urbik, and Burnett aren't going anywhere.

You have Kemo on your keep list, he signed a 5 year contract in 2009 you dumbass. Hartwig is signed through 2012. Keisel is signed through 2013. Farrior will be on the team AT LEAST one more season as he has 3 years left on his contract. Sweed will 100% be goin to training camp. Urbik and Burnett will not get cut after one season.

Is that your version of 'as nice as possible', dipshit? Are we all smarter now for having read your fucking worthless contribution? The intent of the topic was to express who we're happy with and who we're not happy with, as opposed to giving shit to those who actually reply to the original topic.

Farrior- His production fell off a cliff
Willie Gay- He was charred, and burnt on almost every play.
Hampton- He's too fat to be effective
Lame-Ass Sweed- See the Cinci game, the 1st one.
Matt Spaeth- His blocking's godawful.

Those are my picks for now. I'll add more soon. Ryan Clark, Willie Colon, and Ty Carter can be added to the list too. The ones I highlighted in my list are the first that need to go.
Bruce Arians: Proudly carried the Honor of Short Bus All-Star 2007-2011. Good job, and glad you're gone Dumbfuck!!!!!

I am not even going to reply to the comment about getting a 3rd round pick for Matt Spaeth.

And since the title of this post was "Who should be cut", I am not sure why there is a Keep List with players such as Ziggy Hood on there. It's a no-brainer he will be kept, just like Woodley, Ben, Holmes, etc. So, I am not sure why he is even included. Same thing with Keisel.

Hartwig is not going to get cut since he signed a contract extension and the Steelers would have dead money on the books for the duration of his contract.

Colon and Parker and free-agents and can't be cut. They will be either re-signed or be free to shop their services elsewhere.

The players who should not be back next year are Batch, Parker, Galloway, Spaeth, Hills, Kirschke, Farrior, Townsend, Gay, Carter, Clark.

Well I definitely don't want to penalize a contributor or hurt your feelings but I think you probably don't have enough data on cap penalties, player development, contracts, or Restricted Free Agency because I think if you considered all those factors and had the data there's no way you would have said some of the things you said. This is a message board so it's standard to talk a little shit. I don't want to be a smartass but LOL your reply to me was funny.

depends how much parker wants to stay, and how much we can get for him to leave.

parker seems less like a compliment to mendenhall, and more like a redundancy.

mewelde is the compliment.

Cut: Sweed, T.Carter, Spaeth, Batch. I'd cut stinking Ike Taylor too if his contract wasn't so big

ReSigned: J.Reed - ONLY guy who could kick at Heinz. Utilize Shitpulveda for kickoffs?

Not signed: FWP, Hampton, Clark. Maybe some excess cash to sign UFA Nose or Safety, & another RB drafted to take FWP's place. Nose, safety, or corner should be top draft pick, depending on what's left.

Demoted: Billy Gay - backup to where he belongs.

Unsure: S.Logan - can you afford to keep a guy who's only talent is KO returns?

I agree. Time to trade "Fast" Willie and see what we can get. Maybe a higher 1st round pick, if it's packaged right.

First off Willie Parker is a Free Agent. No one has to trade us for his services. I believe Casey Hampton is as well.

People are fucking nuts if you think that
A) Fast Willie is worth a first rounder.
B) Matt "waste of a roster" Spaeth is worth a 3rd rounder. If thats the case lets throw in Carey Davis and see if we can snag the Rams no. 1 pick. Christ.

William Gay has got to go. Only reason to keep him around is because we dont know what you can get from Burnett or Lewis.

Travis Kirtschke is a walking fucking injury. See ya. Let young cats play.

Tyrone Carter. See Ya. Might as well play with 10 on the field.

Willie Colon. See Ya. Any mother fucker off the street can hold and give up sacks all game.

Charlie Batch. See Ya. Old as fuck. Bones break so much i think he has osteoperosis.

David Johnson. See Ya. Not a fullback. Fucking worthless.

There are some bad contracts on this team. Farrior getting extended was a head scratcher when it happened. Same with Hartwig. I hate fucking Max Starks and i think hes worthless too, but we are stuck with him. I hope these contracts dont keep us from keeping Holmes and Woodley, but they are both gonna need paid SOON.
