Ya i certainly wouldnt wait around for any rule changes on resting players. And Goodell isnt gonna do squat about any of this...keep it real people, this is a business, its not a game, and the NFL doesnt give a shit about how we feel about laying down or resting players

A few things I’ve noticed that seem to indicate some fishy shit going on in the NFL. Certainly not based on any kind of scientific research but just some observations.
1. The “pretty boy” quarterbacks (Brady, Manning, Rivers etc) get a lot more roughing the passer calls than Big Ben on similar plays. Is this due to his style of play or is the NFL protecting their big stars that get ratings? Let’s face it, as much as I like Ben and think he’s every bit as good as these jokers, he doesn’t seem to have the star power that Brady or Manning do.
2. Why does it seem like for the whole season, the refs are trying to make The Stillers lose, but when we get to the Super Bowl, all of a sudden, they call everything our way? Example Troy’s interception that was reversed against Indy in ’05 then all the ticky tack calls that went our way in the SB against Seattle. This year may be the exception because we suck so badly.
3. I agree with NJSteel about betting too. Beating spreads seems to somehow miraculously happen late in games. Example, last year against San Diego – the 11-10 mess. Again Troy was involved, he absolutely scored a TD to make the game 18-10. Overturned.

The last couple examples seem the worst to me because they were reviewed. Clearly, the refs and booth reviewers should have and could have easily gotten the calls right.
Just makes me think.

That San Diego game last Season was ridiculous. I remember Mike Periera stumbling over his words on NFL Network over that whole game. Still Goodell did nothing after that game either. He's too concerned with making the League look clean, vanilla, and Corporate. They'll just brush the Indy game under the rug. They'll say it protected the safety of the players.

I'm glad you enjoyed my post and was able to see the salient points.
Now that the Steelers have ben officially eliminated form the playoffs this season, my original thoughts, I maintain, are still valid. If we extrapolate the "corrupt element" that exists within sports, as evidenced by the debacle caused by the NBA referee (who claimed that organized crime made him fix games) into the NFL, why does it seem so unbelievable to the people in this forum who answered to the contrary? There are numerous examples to corroborate an investigation, at the very least, in an informal way by Mr. Goodell and his league officials. In fact, when he was asked about the news of the Colts pulling players to protect them from the playoffs and how it seems to negatively impact the integrity of the game, he replied quite flippantly with some excuse about NOT punishing those offenders, but rewarding teams for continuing to use their starters even when a late-season game is meaningless to their standings.

Such a cop-out answer, spoken by the king of double entendre.
if you have rules that "punish" teams for not listing players on injury reports DURING the season, why should holding a player out of a game (to protect him for the playoffs) be construed any differently? In fact, it should garner an even larger penalty, considering the player is healthy and is intentionally being held out of a game.

Mr. Goodell has lots to do in this off-season, especially as he contemplates adding yet another game to the regular season, to make it an 18 game marathon. If he has his way (and he seems to do whatever he wants anyhow), are we fans going to have to withstand this Indy Colt decision occurring again?
