good point for all the fire Bruce Arians bandwagon

Postby pedd » Tue Dec 29, 2009 3:16 am

For those in Steeler Nation on the "fire Bruce Arians" bandwagon, consider the statistics. For the first time in franchise history, Pittsburgh has a 4,000-yard quarterback (Roethlisberger), two 1,000-yard receivers (Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes) and a 1,000-yard rusher (Rashard Mendenhall). Covering the Steelers the past two seasons, I've noticed when things go right it's on Roethlisberger. Yet when things go wrong, it's all on the offensive coordinator. Arians has been by no means perfect, but let's keep things in perspective.

of course as a bengals fan you would want arians to stay as our OC

stats don't mean shit if you make so much boneheaded play calls when it counts most.

read the above link for an example of how arians can singlehandedly lose the game for you. but the steelers O scored over 30 points so he musta done a good job, right? (lol)

yes when a play works it's ben, when it fails it's arians, like he tells ben to run around and get sacked.

Too funny, sad but true though. Said many times, why go for 1st downs when you can throw deep?
I swear he'd send Holmes up by the scoreboard on 2nd & 3 from our opponent's 11 yd line with 1:20 left on game clock holding a 2 point lead just because he wants a 70 yd. pattern run.

Run along pedd. JW is a good analyst, I like him most of the time. But even HE has been criticizing Arians' stupid as decisions. Especially the tendency to throw mid to deep on 3rd and short ALL YEAR LONG. JW posted that piece to get conversation going. Good things happen when Ben calls the plays in no huddle. Stats are stats. Steelers fans prefer wins. Fire Arians now.

I take pity on you since you're a Bungles fan. Since your franchise's glories consist of a couple AFC championships in the 80's and wistful pipe dreams of maybe winning a playoff game if Carson Palmer hadn't been knocked out of the game early in the '05-'06 postseason, players accumulating big individual stats probably means more to you than it would to a Steeler fan. After all, this will be the Bungles second trip to the postseason in the last two decades. Steeler fans have been reared to expect more.

You see, we do not embrace one another crying tears of joy when our beloved team wins a division title. We nod in muted approval for attaining an expected minimum milestone, buy our AFC North Champions hats and buckle down to cheer our team onto the next world championship run in the postseason. Even during some good years where we came up short in the postseason, we may give props to those players who deserve it, but ultimately, no matter what individual stats say, the season is a failure if we do not win the Superbowl.

You are happy with big individual stats amidst losing records. We hold our beloved Pittsburgh Steelers to a higher standard. We demand world supremacy. :suplusone:

How the hell does Bruce Arians deserve credit

FOR PLAYERS WHO HAVE ALREADY BEEN GREAT FOR MANY YEARS BEFORE HE BECAME O COORDINATOR.

Come on. THINK people. THINK.

You fricking talk like Hines Ward was non existent before Bruce Arians came along. Or Ben Roethlisburger didn't know how to throw a ball untill the offensive Genius of Bruce Arians showed him the guiding light.

There is not a SINGLE IOTA of valid rebuttal from people defending Arians.

Here's one: He is truly an "Offensive" Coordinator.

He is, by job description, an Offensive Coordinator, and he is just that as a Coordinator,...OFFENSIVE!

THERE! Find fault with any of that "valid rebuttal"!
