How long will 'rebuilding' take?

Postby bigjoespompano » Mon Dec 28, 2009 11:22 am

Knowing the Steeler organization like you do, just how long do you think we will have to wait before we see them regain their 'dominant' form that they have been so known for? How long before opposing teams again 'fear' us? Two years? Ben ain't getting any younger ya know...

It's easy. Cut any player wearing a jersey number in the 20's. (minus Moore of course, and maybe Clark)

The rebuilding will take as long as it takes to "rebuild" Troy's knee. Once that is fixed then we will once again be a feared defense...

And it won't hurt getting a healthy Aaron Smith back either.

they will be a force next year, as long as troy stays healthy. we need to draft some new secondary players, and maybe it's high time the steelers start playing rookies. mike wallace has had a hell of a season and ziggy hood is starting to be a player. why rot the rookies on the bench if they're capable of contributing right away?

Steelers don't rebuild. That's for teams like the Lions, Raiders, Rams, etc. I'm pretty sure most fans were asking the same thing in 2006 after they went 8-8, one year after winning the Super Bowl. Two years later, they won again. There's enough of the core players from last year's team that will be back next year. Important thing is to get rid of the dead weight players and coaches and learn from the mistakes of this year.

The lack of playing time, & therefore ability to contribute next yr, is going to kill guys like Ziggy, K.Lewis, Burnett, etc. The only guy to benefit & thus contribute, will be Wallace. NEXT year is going to be like a rookie yr for those guys, & that pisses me off. The same thing happened to Timmons, Troy, etc. This bench-rot has got to stop.
