Agonizing over playoffs!
Unfortunately, this is what you get when you beat teams such as Denver, Green Bay, Baltimore, San Diego and Minnesota and lose to teams like the Chiefs, Browns, Raiders, and Bengals (twice). We as fans have to sit here and start rooting for other teams, this sucks. If only we had split with the Bengals and beat the 3 dregs we lost to this Steelers team would be 12-3. What a disappointment!! Now (thanks to the colts) we have to hope that the Jets lose, and either the Ravens or Texans lose, keeping in mind that we need to beat Miami. I hate this.

Agreed. We pissed this season away. I can think of four plays that cost us 4 different games:
1) Ike Taylor's dropped pick against KC.
2) Burnett's dropped pick against Oak.
3) Limas Sweed's dropped TD against Cincy (although one could argue our defense would have blown it anyway).
4) The 3rd and 22, 4th and 5 debacle against the Ravens (technically 2 plays, but I'm counting it as one 'instance').
I'm sure others can add to this list...

My vote is
2) Burnett's dropped pick against Oak.
I think all of Limas fuckups put together were not as devestatingly fucked as Burnetts drop
Fuck Burnett

The beautiful thing about this year's playoffs is anything is a bonus; any rational Steelers fan should expect jack shit.

Re: Agonizing over playoffs!
I can deal w/ the losses vs KC & Oakland, especially the Raiders. They've beaten the Bengals & Philly, so they can play. There is absolutely no mention of the Cleveland loss. THAT gm was an abomination for 3 reasons: One- it was a MUST win gm that came after the 4 debacle losses. Two - Browns were 32nd in offense & defense + had some key players missing (Rogers, Wimbley). Three - Josh Cribbs gashed them for about the 15th time & they knew it was coming & didn't address it. Say what you want about the other losses but the gm in Cleveland - on Natl TV - made them deserve the inevitable fate of not making the playoffs.

Stillgrill-- Ditto! I wouldn't excuse the other losses to bottom feeder teams but your point is dead on--that Cleveland loss was inexcusable given that they were in a situation of must win after a string of losses and Cleveland was playing with subs on defense every where. Hank Poteat was even playing!! I can't get excited like other posters about Indy laying down against the Jets or whether Cincy cares enough to beat the Jets or NE against Houston. Putting yourself in the position of needing two teams to lose when you had that weak a schedule--what is the point of mentally masturbating over the playoffs and who will help you by winning or whether a team rests starters in a meaningless game for them. Plus, while the Steelers can be unpredictable, Ben 7 is a dangerous opponent, however, they can be unpredictably bad too and their defense can't stand up to Brady or Manning at this point and they are likely going to meet one of those very soon if they were to luck into the playoffs. So let's hope the draft is outrageously good--this team needs depth and probably a starting cornerback......

It annoys me that Cleveland has been winning since then, too. We were the momentum shift that they needed.
