PER THE N.F.L. CHANNEL, STILLERS ARE STILL "IN THE HUNT"...

Postby Crucible-steel-kid » Wed Dec 16, 2009 6:22 pm

I was watching the NFL Network channel last night, and they gave their AFC Playoff Picture recap with Chris Berman. They had a graphic on the screen that aluded to the fact that even though the Stillers might go 6-7, if the season were over today we would be in the playoffs. If they keep playing like this, they won't even get a wildcard spot by the end of the season.

Who the hell wants them to be in the playoffs? There's nothing more disgusting than to lose out in the postseason. You accomplish nothing and it fucks up your draft position which continues the mediocrity.

Dude lets go over your "12 world championships." 3 were from 1929-1931 when there were only 10 teams and there wasn't even a playoff or championship game. Who did you guys beat out the Duluth Bulldogs?? Your other 3 championships were during the depression and one in WW2 when the Steelers and Eagles had to combine teams in order to keep a roster.

Now I will say you are tied with us 6 to 6. By the 50's pro-football was coming of age and the '61, '62 and '65 Lombardi teams most likely would have killed whoever they played from the AFL if they started the SB's a couple of years earlier.

Being Steelers fans our claim to fame is the fact that in the modern era we have been the best franchise. The modern era either begins with SB1 or the league merger in '70 depending on which NFL historian you ask. When Dan Rooney took over for his dad in '69 and hired Chuck Noll the Steeler became the best franchise from then until now.

That being said I will not discount any of Lombardi's championships so I will say 6 to 6. (I mean look pro football during and before WW2 was kind of a joke people referred to it as post graduate football and pro baseball was king)

100% agree. Play the "youngsters" and if they win, great - can be a confidence builder and we get to see if there are any Steelers aong them. They Lose? - No big deal - just helps the draft position. Better opportunity to get Cody or QUALITY DB and we STILL get to see thir play and abilities.

I still want to see if Sean Lee or Josh Hull are in the plans to replace Taunto.

I think the clowns claim 13 championships.

I think they won one Superbowl in Cleveland a couple Thursdays ago. They certainly acted like they did.
