Where is the FIRE in the Belly!!!

Postby kimo_brah » Mon Nov 30, 2009 4:28 pm

The thing that ticks me off this season is that these are not "hard fought" losses. Where is the STEELER passion? Where is the STEELER intensity? Where is the STEELER pride! One big thing we are missing is a locker room leader that can get the team fired up to play with a purpose. When they were playing for the BUS, they had passion and had hard hitting intensity in every game. Even though Porter had a big mouth, he got the guys fired up and he played like he cared & he loves the game. Hinsey and Polomalu have the love of the game but what we need is a big mouth in the locker room to rally the troops. We've got most of the talent we need with a few holes here and there. It just seems they lack the motivation. This is also a head coaches job. Tomlin needs to manufacture a reason for the team each week to get fired up and play like they care. What we need is a Ray Lewis to fire everyone up and kick their ass if they slack. Get Lambert and Lloyd in there to knock some sense into this team.

We don't just need a real TEAM LEADER on Sunday, we need these leaders all week. I'm not just talking a Ra-Ra get them jazzed up to play leader, but a leader that inspires and motivates a team to PREPARE with gusto and put an emotional investment into winning not just every game, but every PLAY. A leader that motivates the team to get in better shape during the off-season, pre-season & during the season. A leader who is manic about studying the other teams and knowing their every move. A leader who sets the tone for the rookies of what is expected and will call out all slacker Rookies and Veterans who do not meet the HIGHER STANDARD of putting on a Steeler Uniform. A Leader who unites his team just as if they were really going to War and they fight for their brothers in arms on the team. This is Steeler football!! It is obsessive with winning and playing smash mouth football. Hines Ward and Polomalu represent this type of die-hard football obsessed player that is Steeler football. But the team leader we need is one who will LEAD this team to prepare and perform like true Steeler players.

It is high time BIG BEN step up and figure out how to inspire and motivate this team. He seems to lack the gusto and presence to pull this off, but he needs to learn to put his easy going way aside and become a frickin drill seargent. I was infuriated at Clark's comments this week. Clark just showed that he doesn't have the Steeler attitude that is required in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are RIGHTLY held to a HIGHER standard than other teams and we expect to be special EVERY year. We need players who believe and love this about the Steelers and we need REAL LEADERS to DRILL this expectation and attitude into EVERY player on the team starting with when we recruit players who have the Steeler mentality and drilling into them every chance we get from training camp on.

I think the Steelers do need to play fired up. They have looked like they just don't give a shit for weeks now. I want to see the defense play with the ferocity of 11 possessed Good Guy Dolls(Chuckie). If these last three wins don't get the Steelers in the playoffs, :suxfingers: fine. I just want to see quality football from my favorite team. This losing shit is getting old. Real old.
