THIS is why Arians MUST go

Postby clarioncall » Tue Dec 15, 2009 10:44 am

Not rocket science here folks. Move the chains means everything talkes care of it itself; time of possesion, yards/game, minimal turnovers, points for cryin' out loud, less sacks, etc.
Then the "D" is not on field as much and other team can't get its' mojo working (See SF vs Ariz. Monday night)

Easier said than done, BUT, this offense system is NOT designed for long hauls up the field EVEN THOUGH we have the players for it. THIS IS WHY ARIANS MUST GO AND GO NOW!!! He wants 50 yds at a pop or forget it. Ward, Miller, a 6'7" TE, a speedy receiver, and a QB who is better outside the pocket than in, or least better on-the-move. Arians makes him an incarnation of the Rooney statue and wonders why sacks are piling up. He is an idiot!

TOO much talent, too many good guys to move the ball CONSISTENTLY with and why he can't see it is the reason HE MUST GO NOW!

thoughts? Suggestions where we look for a real OC?

Good question. The fact that Arians is so horrid means just about anyone would be better. I know neophyte high school coordinators and head coaches who could more comptetently run the Steelers offense compared to Airhead.

How does this post square with the fact that the Steelers have the fourth-highest TOP in the NFL?

Back tmoving the chains. Screw ups in Redzone trying to go for it all. Last few games -Cleve, Oak, we sucked on TOP.
Needs to bea game by game goal, first and foremost. Games where we had TOP advantage - Broncos, Minn. , few others, we nailed 'em. I'd have to take some time to research.

Balt and Cleveland games were about going down field big-chunks at a time. That's fine if you get the chance or at least ry and set them up w/ run and PAP. We were running well at Cleve but Ass Arians throws deep on 3rd & 4's, 3rd & 5's.
Where's roll-outs, action draws, etc JUST to get those few yds instead of the whole enchillada.

Game by game stat is more important than overall. Again, if it is done (set as goal and plan for that), all other stats take care of themselves. Personally, I think 3rd down convert % is most important offensive stat in game. Of course scoring and turnovers are a factor here as well. "What do you do with the ball when you get it?"

38% or whatever just plain sucks, even though the other guys get paid to stop you too.

First - It's about game planning. What was the plan going into Cleveland? Can anyone tell me? First two series, 4 runs 16 yards, 2 passes 2 sacks / 2 punts? Then we abandon the run? I don't give a crap about the stats, what is the plan?

Second - What were the 2nd half adjustments? Can anyone tell me? I saw no evidence of any adjustments! So the 2nd half plan/adjustment was what exactly? The stuff we tried in the 1st half didn't work at all so lets just keep doing it?

Lastly - Where was the urgency on the last possession? We got the ball back with 5 or 6 minutes and I saw no evidence of urgency, or adjustment to the reality of the situation. Hey we've given up 6 or 7 sacks lets call a roll out? Get Ben on the edge, let him run (but tell his goofy ass to slide) to slow down the rush?

This is WHY we need a new O-Coordinator.

All the above hitting the nail on the head. I just hope we're not hitting "ourselves" in the head if The Blood Clot isn't fired. S-Jim, I thought the same about "lack of urgency or decisiveness" in Cleveland which really had me thinking, "what is going on here and do they REALLY want to win this thing?"

I don't believe in "tossing" a game but I do believe we need to begin play of the extras as I've said many posts. Time for these guys to show us their stuff. Are they Steelers or not.

Mentioned a few times, not sure how a college coach transfers directly to NFL, BUT, that said, if you have never watched a Boise State game, do your self a treat. They are a hoot to watch and they do it with limited skill sets. They just use what they have at the time and move up and down the field with very few mistakes.
