spend some money

Postby 1fourdathumb » Mon Dec 14, 2009 11:26 am

we need a few good free agents imo. rookies from next years draft usually don't help the team right away, atleast ours don't.

What money are they going to spend? We play as a major market team.......... not spend as one......... because we arent one.

And to be honest, when was the last time a team put together via free agency won the Super Bowl?

On top of that, even if it did work, who would we get? Unless there's a new CBA signed, next year's gonna be uncapped, but because of the way the current CBA works, many players who otherwise would've been eligible for free agency aren't going to be.

It's pretty astonishing to me that people around here actually think we need to 'blow the thing up' and rebuild. We still have one of the best defenses in the league. If our offense had pulled their weight in pretty much any of the losses we had this year (with the exception of the Chiefs or Raiders games), we'd probably still be in the hunt for the division crown. At this point, I think new a new OC and ST coach could fix a lot of the problems.

these are the same things that i have been saying to all the "fans" saying that
ben needs to go
tomlin needs to go

BA needs to be shown the door and that ST coach SHOULDVE ALREADY BEEN FIRED. As far as our losses go we have two wins if mot for the ST which puts us in the driver seat as far as the WC goes. i swore up and down we had the best fans in the NGL but after this season here all i can do is SMH at 90% of the so calles "Steeler Nation". I hope they pull out this mirical to see what everyone is saying afterwards.

The Saints have quite a few free agent acquisitions, especially on D and they're play good ball.

they are not going to win the SB, and in a couple years they will be bottom feeders.

Valid point sir. They are a good example of building from free agency. But even still it's kinda an exception and not the rule.

They've also gotten lucky by acquiring players that everyone knew were good, but their previous teams let them go.

Brees fell into their lap after SD drafted Rivers.
Vilma was acquired via a trade with the Jets because Mangini is retarded.
Shockey fell into their lap because Kevin Boss caught on in NY.

But yeah, I will still give their personnel guys credit, since they did make these acquisitions happen.

p.s. our guys find gems too. parker, moore, harrison, hartwig. all of those guys were free agent signings and helped us win the SB last year.

HAHA. Anyone who says Ben needs to go is just fucking retarded. There are only 2 QBs in the league that have won multiple Super Bowls right now, and he's one of them.

It's almost like you can tell the bandwagon Steelers fans from the ones who were raised in the shit. Anyone saying Tomlin or Ben needs to go, doesn't know the Steeler way.

This team will never spend on high priced FA, but they have to take a need or 2 off the draft board. The D is aging quickly together. Farrior and Townsend can see what they need to, but their bodies don't allow them to get to the spot anymore. Pola as great as he is seems to be hurt about a 1/3 of the time. No stats. just seems that way. Hampton is a FA and probably won't be back. Clark is a FA and probably won't be back. Hood should be able to back up 2 positions or start at 1. That leaves very little depth on the line and 4 positions including nickel back that need to be replaced or upgraded, and I haven't even addressed the CB situation. I think Lewis and Burnett need to play the next 3 games to see if they can contribute enough to avoid having to take a CB next draft. This D got old quick and there hasn't been the depth to stop the bleeding. The offense needs a new OC and at least one stud on the OL that you know won't need help. You can adjust coverages if you have a weaknees, but not when you can't anticipte who's going to matador block on any given play.
