Upon further review I don't think this is Tomlin's fault.
When Dan was here Tomlin was a great coach. With Dan gone Mike just isn't so good. I don't think that Mike, and subsequently the coaches under him, are having the same support level from above that they had last season. That's what the signs are telling me. I've seen that sort of thing happen in organizations where I've worked before.

If that's the case, then in what way has Art Rooney II undermined him. A. Rooney has been in charge of running the team since 2003. The franchise generally has let the coach coach. One situation that gives me pause in all this is that Tomlin inherited LeBeau, who seems to have the same job for life status as Dick Hoak. When a head coach has a coordinator picked by management for him, that has to have an effect on his leverage when telling LeBeau what he expects out of his personnel.

I don't get it Coke? The ownership does not call the plays or movitate the team. I would dare to say they have no or very little input on the game plan. Tomlin walks around the side lines looking confused and without plan or how to make adjustments to stop the other team. I dare say the Steeler ownership has no bearing on what goes on game day or week leading up to it.

Here's how it typically happens in an organization. New guy comes in or takes over as head. He has or had personality issues with number 2. Or maybe he thinks he knows it all and wants things done his way. Now he starts imposing restrictions on #2, demanding daily meetings, denying budget or personnel requests. Belittling or ridiculing #2 in meetings. Meeting with #2's people behind #2's back. I know about these because I've seen it all happen in places where I've worked. And it definitely shows up in the performance of the organization as a whole. New guy rigs the system so that #2 cannot succeed and then holds #2 accountable for failures.
Mike Tomlin just may want out of Pittsburgh.

No way Coke. Unless he is pining for sun and sand or his wife is nagging him. He has a dream gig in Pittsburgh and has an Obama loving management team. He is good until 2012 when we kick Obamas ass out of office and Rooney is told to pack his shit and vacate that palace in Ireland
hehe. that ought to get some of the libertards worked up

Now, now, I've been trying real hard not to do that.
