BEN quit on the team. Moves that need to be made.
he quit last night. He was listless. He had Hines and Miller WIDE THE HELL OPEN on the last play... countless other times he cost the Steelers 10's of yards not getting rid of the ball. I know he always holds onto the ball...but he had to know in those conditions that field position would be PARAMOUNT. He played all night like he didn't give a crap if they won or not. I don't care too much though... it is not his fault.. he played brilliantly for most of the year as his excellent QB rating can attest to.
IKE TAYLOR needs to be cut immediately. Overpaid JOKE. I hope he spent all of his signing bonus on BLING and has to beg on the street for cornbread and fried chicken when the Steelers cut his ass.
James Farrior needs to be cut immediately. He misses more tackles than anyone in the NFL..and that is only IF he gets to where the ballcarrier is....which rarely happens.. He fucking SUCKS@!
Hamptonwill be gone thankfully.
Spaeth needs to be cut immediately. Cannot block, catch, or even get in the way effectively...and that is fucking damn hard to do at 6'7.. he is a living fucking MIRACLE.
Arians needs to be fired....BEG FAT F U CK Charlie Weiss to come be OC.
Carter needs to be cut immediately. Dude is the worst safety I have ever seen....and that is saying something after suffering through Anthony Smith.
Jeff Reed needs to go to Marine Corps boot camp and grow a pair of balls.
Stefan Logan needs to be cut immediatley. He is beyond fucking useless.
Draft Eric Berry, Josh Haden, Donovan Warren, or Spikes depending on where we pick.

Folks that I've been talking to think Ben's problems are due to the concussion(s). That's been the downfall of several great qb's.

You forgot to include Will.I.Am Gay in your list of worthless players that need to be cut. Easily the worst starting corner in the leauge.

And how did the concussion affect his performance against Cinci(2) and KC(trough 12 min into the 4th Q)?
Somebody on this board already acknowledge that BB is good not great...Will follow up with some stats.

Offense: Party at Ben's house. Bring notebooks, glasses to view film, and your FREAKING minds full of thoughts, ideas, questions. Ya'll goin' no huddle from here. Tell Bruce there's a gig at MY house. He won't know the damn difference.
You'll get your big numbers for Ward, Mendy, Miller, Holmes, Ben and then it's down you go. In comes Sweed, MacDonald, Wallace, practice backs, Parker for tradebait, and we want to see Dixon, ...LIVE, and not as a granite statue.
Bruce: We've all seen better heads on nickel beers. Nothing personal understand, you just don't cut it as an NFL "OC" other than being "Offensive". You're allowed to read the rule book (no crayons though). You might note that a weakness on another team is allowed to be exploited. No rule AGAINST it. 3rd downs are BAD, but 1st downs are GOOD (am I typing too fast for you?). Here is a good thing though: IF you know your OWN TEAM and you know your opponent (that is the team in the "other" pretty colors), you can devise ways to turn those 3rd downs into 1st downs. Usually does NOT involve sending all of your players into a phonebooth at one time. Sometimes, a quick pass or using what is working is a good thing. Oh, I forgot, sacks don't help the cause. Maybe a QB coach can help here, but plays have a lot to do with these too. I'm not going to give an ultimatum here because I want you gone, 2 years go. Ben can score with no-huddle as he's proven. Why we haven't seen this used in the last 4 or 5 games ranks right up there with "why is there air?". Lately, You just seem to be a speed bump in the fast lane of NFL football. The obvious escapes you. Get out

I still think the motorcycle accident did him in....... Although he had flashes afterward, it was apparent his motor skills were never the same. (The post-MC-accident Ben would have *not* made that game-saving tackle after the Bus fumble in the Colts playoff game prior to SB XL.)
Whenever Tom Brady loses, it's always someone else's fault.

Yes maybe those concussions are affecting him. Either that or maybe he's spending too much time trying to book his next TV appearance.
Did you ever notice that when other great QB's around the league have bad games they don't look as bad as ben does when he has a bad game? I mean even after all his time in the league and all the experience he has, when he has a bad game he looks like the third string QB who just got into the game. I don't like what I'm seeing with him. I thought we were going to start a dynasty with ben, wining 12 to 13 games a year, going far into the playoffs. Now I think we are going in the opposite direction. Is Ben going to be another Kordell?
I remember watching a game back in 1997 (i think), at baltimore. Kordell at qb. On a play he ran up the middle 80 yards for a td. Fast as hell. I think that year he finished with 20 td passes and ran for 10 td's. (I could be wrong). I just remember thinking to myself, How can you stop a guy like that. This got to be the start of a dynasty. You all know what happened after that.
Defense good, ben good. Defense bad, ben bad. I don't like what I'm seeing here. You feel me?

Yeah, coaches started fucking with Kordell, trying to make him a pocket passer. Sound familiar?

Coke, sounds VERY familiar. ALL TOO familiar. With both Ben and DD.
Earlier post from BALLHAIR was other QB's looking bad but not as bad as Ben when Ben is bad. I notice it all the time. What the &^% does Ken Anderson do as a QB coach? Just watch?
You can tell when Manning, Brady are struggling, their coaches, OC's get them going on to something else that might work. Our "Idiot Patrol" just keeps our "O" doing the same crap: Up the middle, off the guard, throw deep and punt.
Ever wonder what another staff might be able to do with the talent we have? Hate to say this, but I believe our "O" would rack as many points as NE if we used their style. We can match them. Not so sure about Indy but NE just moves the damn chains, that is what they do. Tell me another back who makes more 1st downs from 3rd downs than Kevin "Playin' since the '80's" Faulk? Who has shut down Welker other than us a year or 2 ago? We can match these guys with MORE clutch weapons. It is the OC, and unfortunately, Ben is "tight" with Ass Arians and likes him. Scary. If he's fired, Ben sulks like the prima dona he is.

Ditto--if Arians wants a three tight end offense at least get someone who can actually block.Spaeth can't block and they throw to him once every 6 games,so why is he taking a roster spot?

Funny you mentioned Kordell. Watching Dixon, I did go back to Slash. HE screwed himself up by not wanting to be "Slash" yet he was so athletic, so able, he could have been the 1st real "wildcat" threat if we had some sense of how to use ALL his gifts. WE screwed him up by, yes, making him a pocket guy. He made some amazing offensive plays as receiver and pass threat. I,too, remember saying how do you stop this guy. What a find! What a collossal waste of talent. If only he saw his own abilities outside of just QB'ing, I truly believe he was one who could have changed the way Offenses used "atheletes". A smaller, more able , more versatile Randall Cunningham yet a much bigger Randel El.
Dixon not as "thick" in the body to take hits as Slash or Cunningham, but he sure is an athelete who can move. We'll screw him up too. You watch.

Some folks have lost their fucking mind.....
Youl seriously consider benching Ben in favor of Dixon??? Absurd.

Please. The season is over. Why play for injuries and just to occupy the line-up. Let's see what we have in ALL 2nd teamers and practice guys. Can they play? Play them in 2nd halves of games and let's see. What's to lose other some good game experience for next year.
Give Ben, Ward, Troy, any others that need to heal, time to heal. Geez, maybe, just maybe, we could try a few wrinkles in formations, blitz packages, etc. Maybe get Farrior off the field for a while and see if Fox, A. Harrison, Bailey can play. What can Ziggy do? Can Sweed be salvaged? What better time than NOW for these last 3 games. We are going nowhere. If we even get to playoffs, how far do you really think we'd go?
Think it's '05 again? Let the youngsters play.
Re: BEN quit on the team. Moves that need to be made.
You guys are right about kordell. Once they tried to make him a "pocket passer" he wasn't worth a shit. Is it me or has anyone else noticed that ben hardly scrambles anymore when the pocket breaks down? He just stands there and takes the sack. Last year he would scramble at the drop of the hat, any chance he got. This is what made him so dangerous. Are they trying to do to ben what they did to kordell? Those cocksuckers

Re: BEN quit on the team. Moves that need to be made.
Ben is the best quarterback the Steelers ever had and is a top 5 QB in this league. You fools did not mention once that our receivers (i.e. Hines Ward) cannot beat man-to-man coverage so they just overload blitzed us the entire night.
Stefan Logan is fine on kick returns. He's had about 5 very nice returns this year. True he is shit on PR but he's a hell of a lot better than Mewelde Moore back there on both departments.
The problems come down to:
William Gay
Ike Taylor
Tyrone Carter
James Farrior
Justin Hartwig
Colon or Starks depending on the night
Everyone on STs

Iy appears everyone on this team is a problem. BTW, do you have a fathead of big ben on the wall of your bedroom?

Re: BEN quit on the team. Moves that need to be made.
Last I checked, they play to win games. Regardless of the circumstances.
Switching out your startes for the reserves to "see what they can do" is flawed logic. Presumably, the reserves were provided a chance to show what they could do from OTAs, to training camp, thru the preseason. The coaches (despite how stupid we believe they are), unlike the fans, get to watch them daily. As an aside, the coaches are professionals who actually get paid to know something about the game and evaluating talent. Based upon their closeness to the players and the fact that they are professionals at the sport of football, they form a depth chart based upon talent.
Therefore, we must assume that Farrior -- despite his notable decline this year -- has more overall talent than, say, Fox. I don't disagree that there are times Farrior should not be on the field and he has no business trying to cover a back out of the backfield. However, the coaches KNOW what Fox can do. In fact, they know it so well -- and he's proven it so well -- he rides the pine. He's not proven he's more capable than Farrior.
To presume we, as casual fans, have insight into who should start or not is nonsense. The fact is, the majority of fans don't have the SKILL or KNOWLEDGE to make such calls (despite what we think!).
Now, geez, the NFL is littered with guys who were overlooked (say Harrison) and there are instances when potential talent goes to waste in favor of veteran talent (Dwaine Board is a good example --- Noll cut him to keep I believe Dwight White on the roster). However, I for the life of me cannot see how a team with talent enough to win the SB last year is now in need of the drastic changes that are being proposed.
They just are not -- for whatever reason -- playing well.
Peace
