Home crowd deserts team.

Postby smheart78 » Tue Dec 08, 2009 6:36 pm

From the weekly TMQ article over at ESPN's Page 2.
Worst Crowd Reaction: The announced crowd at Jacksonville was 42,079, but that must include people who thought about attending but changed their minds -- the stands were full of people dressed as bright blue seats. With two minutes remaining at Pittsburgh, the stands had turned bright yellow because so many had gotten up and left. They got up and left a close game involving the defending champions! Sure, Steelers, you've won two of the past four Super Bowls. But what have you done for us lately?

Is this fuking true!?! Not like we needed a 12th man late in the 4th quarter or anything! If any of you season ticket holders want to give up your tickets for the rest of the year I know plenty of people willing to stay the whole fuking 60 minutes! Bullshit. WTF!

This has been happening for years...almost since Heinz Field opened.

People leave early to beat the traffic.

Must be a corporate crowd that attends Steeler games nowadays.

I don't blame that so much.

Awfully hard to pee, grab a beer, and get back to your seat in 12 minutes or so.

I was at Heinz for a game once- the concourse traffic at halftime is awful.

I don't blame them. If the game is within 2 scores in the 4th quarter, we're gonna lose. Only time we have a chance of winning is being up 3-4 scores, like against the Chargers. Sad thing is we almost blew that one too!

Steelmann, I’m with you. I got tickets for the 1st preseason game last year against the Iggles. The Stillers went ahead late and held them off in the waning moments of the game for the W. Me and my girl stayed, asses firmly planted in our seats, with several thousand other fans screaming our heads off till the last second ticked off the clock. The only reason we got out of our seats was to cheer on the Stillers and leave the stadium – well after the game was over.
These people call themselves real Stillers fans? I will gladly take their tickets off of their hands if that’s how they feel about it.

Glad someone wrote this. People are also out of their seats before the first half ends. I remember watching Brady drive down the field with less than 2-minutes in the 2nd qrter and 1/3 of the fans still in their seats. Brady was working like he was at his home field.

Not the same steelers "shot and a beer" crowd as it once was. It pisses me off when watching on TV to see people filing into Heinz Field Primanti Bros and watching the game on a 22 inch tv in the restaurants corner while the defense is on the field.

Pisses me off that the stadium design allows the crowd noise leak right out to the river. Three-rivers was as loud as it gets. I can remember how difficult it was for opposing teams to play there. How many opposing team delay of game penalites from crown noise have we seen since Heinz field. I am willing to bet zero. You can hear the difference whether at the game or at home watching.

There is no home-field advantage at Heinz Field. I bet our record shows that - will have to check on that.

FINALLY! Someone has finally figured out why we've lost so many 4th quarter leads this year. It's the fans fault! Fuck! If only we had a more die hard following, we would be undefeated this year! I was at the game against the Raiders. It was one of the most boring Steeler games I ever had to endure. 3 quarters of jack shit. The Super Bowl champions settle for a field goal after starting the game at the Raiders 20 yard line. Yep, 3 and out. Way to get the ball rolling. I think the crowd must have been to loud and the players couldn't figure out their blocking assignements. Then when we actually do start putting points on the board our sad ass defense can't stop the likes of Gradkowski, Fargas, and Murphy. That's right, Gradkowski, Fargas and LOUIS MURPHY! Again, clearly the fans fault for not creating enough noise. Maybe if the fans were louder Will.I.Am Gay would figure out how to cover someone. The fans are clearly the problem here.

I was in the stadium at 12:10, in my seat by 12:35, and left my seat after our last pathetic attempt on offense when time ran out. Me, my wife and kids cheered our asses off for that pathetic display we witnessed Sunday. I wanted to find some Steeler exec to get my fucking money back. That shit their putting out on the field every Sunday isn't Steeler football. It's an abortion. And no matter how much crowd noise there is this team as it currently stands BLOWS!

The fans who go to games cannot possibly boo enough to express one billionth of the frustration and embarrassment the Steeler Nation feels supporting the kind of lukewarm pansies that lose to the fucking Cleveland Browns.

Don't you think it's the other way around in that the team has deserted the fans? They ought to give back the money to the season ticket purchasers.
