I hope the Rooneys just stay quiet with the politics...... Maybe time will make any negative motivational effect go away.

Ok, I think you're saying that it's the absence of Dan Rooney that's the cause of the Steeler's demise. It's not any particular political bent that's the issue but the political connection is the ambassadorship to Ireland that has taken Dan away. And without Dan's guidance the team has no rudder.

Could be true. But the Steelers did fall apart after Cowher's superbowl win and Dan was around then.

Yes, I see that you now recognize the power of the simple 2 word epithet "blow me" When you receive the vaunted "blow me" award, you may secure in the knowledge that you are not just an average idiot, but you are a top notch idiot.

To paraphrase a line from Ruthless People:

This could very well be the stupidest thread on the face of the earth.

Why?

Does Dan Rooney have to remain active with the team until he croaks?

He's not allowed to move on and do something else?

Art II already runs the team, in case you haven't noticed.

And last I looked, he didn't jet off to Ireland.

Show us the cause and effect, please.

Some evidence to back it up might be helpful, too.

I am no Obama fan by no means, but I cannot bring myself to correlate politics and the Steelers. WTF? Are running out of ideas for threads? Maybe the Steelers are losing due to global warming? Keep it fucking real people!

I did vote for Obama but, like this thread, I fail to see the relevance of anyone's political leanings in the team's fortunes on the field. Art Rooney II has been officially handling the day-to-day operations of the Steelers since 2003 and the organization has won two superbowls in the last four years. Dan Rooney has long been cited as a limousine liberal for decades, and he ran the team's daily operations during the entire superbowl era, so go figure.

You can wistfully lament the lack of neocon ideology permeating government today, but don't blame the Left for our team plunging into the toilet this season.

Ah, yes. The Obama Effect has caused the Steelers to lose football games. Is anyone out there stupid enough to give any creedence to that premise? I mean, really?
If Rooney had nailed Sarah Palin this team would be 6 and 6. If Rooney had performed buggery on Rush Limbaugh, this team would be 6 and 6. If you and I were never born, this team would be 6 and 6. If Rooney and Obama were married in Vermont, the outcome would be the same. Please go back to Nostradamus, the Mayan calendar or Mein Kampf, but just quit posting here.

Thanks CA Still. Dan Rooney nailing Sarah Palin – that’s just funny shit right there. And like you said, it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the Stillers sorry record. I think the ball boy's mother's vote in the Allegheny county treasurer race might in fact be more relevant.
If an owner's political affiliations affect a player’s performance, that player needs to be cut. They make millions to play football, not align themselves with a political party.
And amazingly, people with different political philosophies have managed to work together as teams throughout history. I know this is difficult for small-minded simpletons to grasp, but it happens. Really, I’m sure of it.

Seems like there is always some tiddlywink jackass on every board who likes to name-call and insult. Generally, this is the person whom out of a hundred people is the one you would immediately recognize in person as the piss-ant tool who has probably been bitch-slapped too many times by his fat ugly wife when he didn't get her the right combo meal at mcdonalds. If pgh heaven is from the burgh, i am truly surprised, as he is an anomoly. if he lived out here in wyoming people would pick him out real quick, as he would not be able to hide in the realm of obscurity and mediocraty. If he does live out here in Wyoming, let me know where we can meet.

Otherwise, this might be the silliest topic in years of following this board. As for pghheaven, go fuck, yourself and your fat wife.

Thank you for confirming you have zero evidence that Dan Rooney thanking Obama on the podium had anything to do with this year's decline.

Never enter a battle of wits with an unarmed man...that's what I was always taught.

I always forget that when I come here, though.

SIGH.
