Big Ben vs. DD (When the effect of Sacks is accounted!)
While I like BB and acknowledge him as a winner, I would like to present you with a comparison between him and DD:
Zero Sacks
Did somebody note our QB did not get sack?
What does this mean?
Here is Ben against the Ratbirds in his last 3 games:
Att/Com Pct Yds TD Int Sacks Total Yards Net Comp % TD OPoints
14/24 58 191 1 1 3 179 52 1 16
22/40 55 246 1 0 3 252 51 1 13
16/33 48 255 1 0 4 233 43 1 16
52/97 54 230 1 0.3 3.3 221 49 1 15
Here is DD:
12/26 46 145 1 1 0 172 46 2 17
Do notice the following when BB was under center (average per game):
TD = 1, Offensive points = 15, Net Yards (considering runs minus sacks at -5 yards per sack)= 221, Net % completion (adjusted by # sacks) = 49%
Source: NFL.com
Once we considered BB sacks and inability to run, DD's numbers do not look bad at all. In fact, 17 is the highest number of points scored by the offense in the last 4 games.
Now what do ya think? Should we hope DD gets the nod to be the our 2nd QB over Batch?

You forgot win loss record
Re: Big Ben vs. DD (When the effect of Sacks is accounted!)
I did not forget, I acknowledge BB as a winner. Perhaps I should have also stated I know he has the 2nd highest winning percentage among active QBs (first 100 games).
The point I was making is that it was not BB play what determined last year's steelers' victories (compared to that of DD).
Precisely because BB is a winner (despite his mediocre career passing stats), I want him there in the lineup, the guy is golden in the more critical of stats (Wins). Hence my earlier post ends by saying that we might have found a true solid backup...
Also, what can you guys add about the line giving ZERO sacks...

It had more to do with DD not holding on to the ball whereas Ben tries to extend plays. Simple as that. Our o-line has been a surprising bright spot nearly all season.

This is the point Bleier was trying to make.
