How were the coaches treated?

Postby Coke Oven » Fri Dec 04, 2009 8:23 am

The problems this season seem to be based on coaching. Could there be some unhappiness in Steeler coachingdom? After winning the superbowl were the coaches duly rewarded by the Rooneys and Tomlin? We have no way of knowing that that I can think of. But the evidence seems to suggest that they're unwilling to put out the same effort that they did last year. It shows up in the play calling and in the schemes.

Not conspiracy. I'm just trying to find reasons for the team's lackluster performance. Coaching is a problem and the question is why, especially after just having won a superbowl. Imagine being a manager in a large corporation and you and your fellow managers were directly responsible for your company rising to the top. Wouldn't you want to be rewarded for that? If you weren't then would you put out the same effort again next year?

If you have another idea that explains the coaching falloff, let's hear it.

I'd like to know how DC's and OC's and Sp. Teams coaches contracts are done. Are they "incentive oriented"?

Earlier posts about giving Arians extra for 3rd down conversion %. This guys absolutely sucks at moving the chains. If he'd be more concerned about moving the chains, keeping D off the field and fresh, we'd not be in this mess. Do "3 'n outs" bother anyone else?

It seems they think they can win just by showing up sometimes. They play such soft "D" at the wrong times, (KC and Balt.), the insipid play calling, wasting talents of "Offense playmakers". Just too plain for all to see, even for a simple guy like me.

Special Teams? Oh yeah, they're special. So special, they don't even need to show up. High hopes for Logan but if there's not 15 people in an area, he's not goin' there. He's attracted to crowds it seems. That coach HAS to go.
