Thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU THANK YOU for giving Dennis Dixon the Hard Hat Award this week

that's EXACTLY my response.

Even thought we lost, i mean come on, step back for a second and realize how often we've been in bad situations with this team before.

I'm so glad that the committee was very insightfull in making sure this man recieved his accolades.

He's showing, if anything, that we may have a very bright future ahead of us at backup QB. For him to step up in the conditions he had to.

Even Harbough gave him credit

"i dont care who was playing behind center. Dennis Dixon, that man is a player".

ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY it should have been DD but I would have shared it with Mendy.
Mr. Idiot had him running into the grinder every 2nd or 3rd play - up the damn middle - where we all knew everyone would be waiting for him. Why? We ALL know why. Yet, Mendy took the rock and powered on. Mill, hope you consider Mendy for at least the "Goggles" portion of a Hard Hat. No problem with DD though.

Said earlier they made a stature out of him when he has great ability as an action figure. His 2 long scampers alone should have, and I mean SHOULD HAVE, alerted MT and Ass Arians to what they had out there - an athelete with mobility who is in a hostile environment and his FIRST EVER start. little practice time with starters and minimal timing practice.

It is MT's job to go to ass Arians and say, "Whoa, stop the pocket crap and get him moving to create some room out there." Maybe MT isn't the field leader we hope he is. NFL is about ball control and moving chains when your defense is suspect. Said all along, no way should we be less than 60% on 3rd down conversions.

I'll bet you incentivize a 3rd down conversion rate in Ass's contract, you'll see some chains move real quick.
"Bruce, tell ya what we'll do for ya. Base pay $100k; top 5 ranked offense get another 50k, top 5 in points scored by offense only (defense points don't count) get another 50k, ...hit 70% 3rd down conversions get 75k, REGARDLESS of how many 3rd down attempts are necessary." (The less 3rd down attempts, the earier to hit the magic mark!) Move ball on 1st and 2nd and won't need to worry about 3rd's.

3rd down conversions make all the others possible. Any takers with this talent pool?

I absolutely DISAGREE with this choice for Hard Hat player of the game. DENNIS DIXON????????? THE BONEHEAD WHO THREW THE PICK THAT LOST THE GAME IN OT???????? I can't believe it, this is the worst pick I have ever seen from Still Mill, and definitely enough to make me seriously question his judgment from here on out. How in the world do you pick the 2nd year QB who goes 12 for 26 for 145 yards and throws the game-ending interception that showed a complete lack of vision on his part. Unbelievable. How do you pick him over, say, Larry Timmons who was a complete beast the entire game. Or Mendenhall, who tore it up on the ground all night. Or even James Harrison, who was putting the pressure on Flacco all night, causing the O-line to double up on him. Absolutely horrible pick. "Still Mill", did you even watch the game??

Adbender, is this the same Timmons whose poor tackling form allowed Ray Rice to scamper 30 more yards on that 4th down play? Instead of wrapping up, he launched himself at Rice's back and deflected off of him. That guy?

Dixon screwed up in OT, but he played well for 60 minutes, despite the inability of the D to close out a game, and the moronic playcalling that did more than the Ravens pass rush to neutralize his athleticism. I don't know if you're aware of this, but QB is the hardest position to play in the NFL, and Dixon acquitted himself more than well given the circumstances.

Personally I would have chosen Mendenhall, esp. since there were whispers before the game that Mendy didn't look ready with the memory of his injury. But I have no problem with Dixon getting the nod.

Actually acewhiplash, I'm talking about the Larry Timmons that had 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 7 tackles....and he didn't give up a game-losing play in overtime. I agree with the Still Mill most of the time, but like I said, this decision makes me seriously question his judgment.

Dear Mr. Adbender:
I am sorry you missed the game on Sunday night. We tried to wake you but the fog you were in was so thick we couldn't find you. You see, we wanted to show you a few things about DD that EVEN WE DIDN'T KNOW. Turns out he can run the ball, quickly and quite far, I might add. Who knew? What really impressed those of us who observed this "virgin" player was his calm and command, even though he was handed a starter's manual hours before game time. What makes his play all the more impressive was his LACK of repetitions in practice throughout the week to play, or should I say, MAKE HIS FIRST NFL START, against what is arguably the 2nd best "D" in the league, who just happens to be our fiercest, most brutal rival. Did I mention the game was in THEIR house as we tried to get you tuned in? As most of us understand it, it is the PT before the game that makes or breaks a player's contribution. Might we produce a Mr. Rashard Mendenhall as Exhibit A? Did you know this 1st round pick was benched for "poor preparation" just a few weeks ago? It did get his attention and I am one who is now excited to see him man the backfield on Sunday's. Unfortunately, his talents, obvious to most, ignored by 1 in particular, prevent him from giving us his full arsenal. (Frankly, I don't like to see him run up a nose tackle's nose 20 times a game but let's discuss this at another time. Back to Mr. Dixon.)
Given he was to pass the ball to receivers whose routes took them well down the field, Mr. Dixon hit some and missed some. Our O-Line did a fab job of protection but these long patterns take time. His abilities to scamper were hindered by the plan he was forced to use. Again, his talents, too, are now OBVIOUS to most, oblivious to 2 in particular. (You can decide which 2) This RAW TALENT did give us a lead heading towards the final bell when the league's No. 1! defense let an umimpressive QB convert a 3rd and 22 by "letting up" and giving him quarter. I make no bones of my displeasure about those calls, HOWEVER, I make NO APOLGY for a Mr. Dennis Dixon being the main recipient of the prestigous Hard Hat Award. My only contribution to this would be that the aforementioned Mr. Mendenhall ALSO receive some accommodation for his willingness to sacrifice his body into a meat grinder when everyone, including the Mayor of Sharpsville KNEW he was coming to the center toting the rock. THAT is the game I saw Mr. Adbender. Yours must have been your dream..

The defense did not throw the game-ending interception. Dennis Dixon did. If you're going to blame the defense blame the secondary, namely Willy GAY who played like a fag the entire game. The LB's and D line stood their ground as much as possible considering the amount of time they were on the field. They still haven't allowed a 100 yard rusher for what is it, like 30 consecutive games? I'm sorry but there were guys that played much better in games that "noone deserved the award" than Dixon played in this one. I'm truly astonished and disgusted by this pick.
