Big Ben to play

Postby Lake37 » Mon Nov 23, 2009 10:32 pm

Mort just reported on MNF that Big Ben is going to play vs the Ravens...

We can all breathe a collective sigh of relief

I'm glad he can play. I hope he shows up, too.

hey all, new to this forum but a long time steeler fan. gotta say i'm hopin we don't see a rushed back version of Ben, cuz that "concussion-like" blow to the head isn't gonna make his recent erratic play any better. so if it's your call, how many INTs does he get before you put Dixon in? hopefully Dixon gets some snaps with the first team this week just in case.

Post-Gazette reporting Tyler Palko is going to come in as #2. Oh that's great, another sucky Pitt QB to follow in the footsteps of Pete Gonzalez. Gimme a break - Jeff Garcia would make a much better backup.

They would not have signed Palko to PS if they thought roth was gonna be out for a while. Would have signed a vet to real team instead.

Hope they are not rushing him back for this game for reasons both short term (see past games where he should not have played) and long (is it really worth endangering his health, both for his own reasons-- wanting to live along life -- and the team's own best interests?)

there is no way on this planet tyler palko is the number two qb. that will be Dixon. further I think we should start dixon and have ben as number two. let him sit a week. he had a light concussion though they beat around the bush on it. within 7 days there is a gargantuan chance of him getting a full blown high grade concussion.

this drops significantly at two weeks.

It would be very interesting to see what Dixon would do WITH ALSO a committment to the running game, but we're talking about dumbfuk Arians. I am very concerned that Kemo will be out of this game as he does thing in the running game that no one else seems to be able to do!

BenRoth's stats the week after his concussion vs the Falcons in "06: TDs- 1 INT's - 4, including 2 pick-sixes. 25-37 completion, 61.7 rating.

Dennis Dixon should play this week, my friends.

I have the same concern you do grill. I remember all the people (myself included) who were saying "Ben is a warrior" and begging for him to play. I also remember being wrong. Pittsburgh ended up losing the next 2, and Ben didn't play up to his standards. He shouldn't have been out there for Oakland and possibly should have sat vs Denver.

I recognize that he at this point is still likely a better option than Dennis, but lets just hope the season doesn't become compromised vs. hated Baltimore. Losing Ben would be awful.

How can anyone beg for Dixon. Are you Fk'n kidding?!! Puleeaze....Career back up that gets everyone all wet because of his speed. This is the NFL fellas. He's no more of the real deal that the rest of the nutbag washers that have held the clipboard in the past.

As far as BR7? Hell, I'm not sure it matters at this point. He's been playing like shit before the head injury....not sure I see, or expect, much of a difference.

indy steel please show any kind of stat anything at all showing ben playing like shit. ANYTHING at all.

He is having the best year of his career so far. you are DELUSIONAL.

In addition you have no idea how Dennis Dixon will play. he was a stud in college.

finally ben got a concussion. if he gets hit again the odds of another concussion are almost 100%. unless he hands off every play he will get planted at some point in game vs RATBIRDS.

when that happens we lose him possibly for the season.

so indy steel I await your reply

indy steel, Ben was holding the clipboard before Tommy Maddox got hurt. good thing we took a chance on that using your logic.

BR7 himself put the Cincy game on himself. How much more stats / data do you need? He's not playing well -- holding the ball too long, throwing into double coverage, etc.

I could care less about stats -- give me the "W." Right now, they've lost two in a row. One to the Chiefs?

As far as Dixon -- all for Dixon starting tomorrow scream "yes." <cricket sound> That's what I thought.

BR7 for Maddox is a poor comparsion. Hell, if I recall corrrectly, Maddox was a "stud" in college too!

first off I said nothing about tommy gun and ive chatted it up with maddoxes parents.

second off ben had one sub par game. he had nine other games and he is STELLAR this year.

only a complete moron would think ben has played like shit this year.

does anyone here think ben has played like shit this year?

Prior to the Cincinnati game I felt that Ben was definitely a pro bowler and should have been in the outside consideration for an MVP...So to answer your question, NO

Ben's not playing well. However, on second thought, the whole entire team isn't either.

Don't give a shit about stats.....all that matters is the "W".

BR7 will bounce back; however, he's not played very well that last couple of games. Call it what it is. It really is that simple.

It's good he'll play. I don't think Dixon's ready for the starting roll. I wouldn't mind seeing Dixon in some gadget plays, but Arians didn't pass pre-school, the dumbfuck he is, so we'll watch Dixon rot on the bench.

Palko's a joke. They should've kept Leftwich.

Do You think the coaching staff finally got through to Ben about sliding when he is about to be tackled? Wasn't the concussions he got from playing were when he ran with the ball and went head first into tacklers? His own fault.

Has anyone ever seen Ben throw a pass over 40 yards and hit a receiver in stride?
