Why the Luv-Fest from the Pgh Sports media???
I have not lived at home for many years but I do follow what the Pgh Sports media has to say on a daily basis thru the web and so on. My question is simple, really. Is there some sort of family/monetary/political connection between the Post Gazette and the various Pittsburgh sports teams?
Look, it's no secret that if this would have been a Philly,NY or Chicago team there would have been screaming headlines calling for various heads to roll. In the major cities, the media would NEVER tolerate this slop. Guys like Ariens and Ligursky (sp.) would have been 'Dead Men walking'. Yet, as bad as the teams play and as stupid as the various coaches and owners appear to be, they get a 'pass' in the papers locally!
Third and Fukkin TWO in OT and Numb Nuts pulls a slow moving dump off to a slow moving RB and he gets smooshed, effectivly end any hope for a winning FG. Yet, the stupid old curly haird Jag off sports writer DEFENDS this pile o' shyt buy stating that the Fans "weren't there on the field" so they couldn't see what was happening directly so they have no right to second guess Fat Boy (or something very similar to this). And don't EVEN get me started on the Pirate smooch fest!
What's the deal here???

Like yourself I was born in, raised in, and left the Burgh. I have a one word answer to your question.
Certainly.

I too was born, raised and left: I can say this, I have no respect for most of the major sports here in Philadelphia and I've lived here for some dozen years. I fully beleive that the papers and media help fuel the horrible fans here. Same may go for New York and Chicago, so maybe that's a blessing in disguise.

I'm sorry not everybody can be as reactionary as people on this site seem to be.
While good points are made here, I would hate to see what a Steeler team owned by one of you guys would look like.
Losing teams fire coaches mid-season...not winning teams.
Winning teams look long-term and don't over-react to every setback.

So, in your 'Educated/humble opinion, Ariens really is a great coordinator and has done a fantastic job. After all (according to you) the offensive stats and/or league positioning of said offense (due to said stats) bears out his greatness, correct?
In your sunny world, Ariens can do no wrong and everything is coming up roses, correct?
Wow, reality. What a concept.....
