Pittsburgh Nears an Ignoble Record

Postby smheart78 » Wed Nov 18, 2009 5:49 pm

This was posted today over there at football outsiders....I know how you guys feel about blind stats, but the fact that our kickoff/k.o. coverage is nearing the bottom of the pack since these calculations started is cause enough to kick it oob or squib quick it every play, as the comments have suggested.

PG says they have waived A. Harrison from STs and activated Donovan Woods.

Tomlin said. "But it's not just about the addition of a Donovan Woods. Donovan Woods is not all of the sudden going to make us the most dynamic kickoff-coverage team in the NFL."
What might, then?
"It's detail. It's about shedding blocks and making tackles and being schematically sound. We're in the process of looking at all elements of that unit."

How about taking a look at the kicker while you're at it.
Those deep passes that Ben Roethlisberger underthrew Sunday were not the result of pressure up the middle or anything the Cincinnati Bengals did to prevent them.
"No, I just think they were misconnects," Tomlin said. "That happens from time to time. I'm sure that Ben will bounce back, as will we."

Agreed, we'll bounce back.
