i agree that coverage sacks should be charged to ben. the line shouldn't be expected to hold the defenders away forever.

Sack #1- I think it should go to o-line
Sack #2- BR7 held onto the ball too long
Sack #3- Missed it flipping over to the ravens/bungles game

Agree on these? And what about sack #3?

I looked up a few numbers becasue I was interested to see how the sack numbers this year compared to last year when it seemed like Ben was constantly being brought down. Here's how they compared...

2008 Regular Season
Total Sacks- 49 (4th most in NFL)
Sacks Per Game- 3.06
Sacks Percentate (percentage of times sacked when attempting to pass)- 8.8%


2009 Regular Season to Date
Total Sacks- 19 (7th most in NFL)
Sacks Per Game- 2.71
Sack Percentage- 7.5%

As I expected, the numbers are fairly similar with a slight improvement this season. I think the o-line has shown improvement.

These are interesting, but if we're going to count the times Ben costs the O-line a sack stat, then in all fairness we should count the times he saves the o-line from a sack stat.
Like that first down to holmes in the 2nd quarter against the bengals.
