Steeler D: Is Polamalu the difference?

Postby frankensmith91 » Thu Nov 12, 2009 1:29 pm

Early this season when Troy was injured, the defense looked shaky at best, but ever since troy has been back in the lineup, the difference has been almost night and day, especially in the last 2 games where it looks like he's finally playing healthy again.

Do you guys think the difference in the defense's play recently is due to the defensive unit gelling, or is it because polamalu is just that good?

T.P. 43 is just that good. I remember when he goes after those interceptions when most players would be content to just watch the ball fall incomplete to the ground. He plays from start to finish, leaves it out there on the field, and brings stability to the sideline and on the field without bravado, cussing or fussing-A CLASS ACT ALL THE WAY AROUND! :surockin:

Troy's presence allows the Stiller's D to completely open up the playbook. He's the equivalent of having 12 men out there instead of 11 and this allows the blitz packages to be fully utilized. Simple as that!

Troy seems to be the difference, he gets back up to speed and the 4th quarter collapses go away. While it's wonderful to have such a fantastic player, it also means when he's gone we're not as good, and his style of play has made him susceptible to injury. I don't want to think about what happens to us if he gets hurt again.
