2:00 Minutes To Go - Take a Knee!
I'm starting to question the late game management skills of Tomlin, Arains and even Big Ben for not stepping up and telling the coaches we should take a knee.
At the 2 minute warning we had a first down on the 5 yard line... We could have taken 4 knees and turned the ball over on downs to Denver with about 35 seconds left at most and up two scores. They only had one timeout left at the 2 minute warning...
Instead, we run the ball and fumble which wasn't correctly called and couldn't be over-turned. The official did not say the ruling was confirmed - he only said that the ruling on the field would stand. In other words, he could not see enough to overturn the call.
After dodging that bullet, we then throw the ball on third down! What the hell are we thinking! We don't need to score! If that ball is tipped it could be an easy pick 6. I don't get it.
To me, this was the worst series of decisions I've seen the Steelers make with under 2 minutes in a while. Fortunately, it didn't matter becuase we got the benefit of poor officiating.

I like the aggressiveness. I say kick them when they're down & why put your defense back on the field? A fluke play could happen any time whether on offense or defense, so who gives a shit!

Mock the OP all you want, but he's exactly right. Just because it worked out okay doesn't mean it was the proper thing to do.
Yinz would've sh*t a brick if a Bronco picked off that pass to Hines & scored, making it 21-17. Then they go with an onside kick and maybe get the ball again with a minute or so to go.
Sure, the odds are way against all that happening, but why give them a 1% chance instead of zero?

Get the right cleats on Mendenhall's shoes and then this wouldn't be a discussion! Poor guy should have had a rushing TD on that final series if it wasn't for the poor footing...

No. You do not take a knee.
Execute your basic offense first-a line plunge.
If your opponent lets the clock run, you take a knee.
If your opponent is calling time outs to get the ball back, then by all means attempt to score; even passing the ball on their sorry ass.
No objections here whatever.

You f'ein Idiot. remember Vick in 2002 when we went prevent? I say score with one second left if we can. Cowher lost a few games sitting on the lead. We had close to 2 mins. Knee, knee, knee punt. 120 left maybe Runback, onside kick and a long pass and we're 5-3. Manage that. You guys hate to lose then you post ways we should have lost.

Not the same situation at all - get your head out of your ass.
We're up two scores.
They have one timeout.
It's first down with two minutes to go
At worst they get the ball back on their 5 yard line with no timeouts and were up 11.
There's no sense in risking a run or a pass. Least of all a pass.
And, by the way, when a steeler play got injured on the run by Mendy, we were forced to take a timeout. It never should have happened.
Everything else with game was great.
I do like the aggressiveness as well - this same aggressiveness makes us 8-0, but circumstances were such that a score was not needed at all. That's my only point. Not trying to bitch about the overall job - it's just those last two minutes are a bit questionable.

That's the point, you leave things like poor footing to chance and perhaps cause a turnover like Bettis in the Colt AFC game. Mendy even slipped on the second down run...
The first run was a fumle and we got a big break when the official blew call. I still haven't heard a justification for not taking 4 straight knees.

Steel - thanks for noticing... Somebody else here didn't agree with me. I saw turf flying all over the place.
You forget about the details and you're playing a game of chance. That's not Stiller football!

Wrong. Denver had just 1 TO left. We kneel 4 times & there's well under a minute to go and they're stuck inside their own 10 yd. line.

Taking knees because we are afraid of fumbling the ball does not feel like stiller football to me.

It's not a matter of being "afraid". It's being smart and running out the clock.

Arians has Hines on his fantasy team.
