View topic - Is Jeff Reed a Canadian???

I am trying to understand where this guy is coming from and I am having trouble. You would think that he would value his position as a kicker on the SB champion Steelers. He has been a good kicker over the years- to call him beloved would be overstating but I guess we know him and have been appreciative of his successes. A kicker, however necessary, is not really a football player as we know it and it is like a unspoken mutual understanding that they get some respect and keep their jobs.

When you have a guy like Reed- that pushes the limits of bad media exposure, gets tangled with the cops and really relishes his reputation having himself a nice-sized ego- it makes you wonder if there is something else going on.
So I am forced to wonder- Is Jeff Reed a Canadian?
1) He really likes hockey- he is seen at almost every game in the off season and even during the football season-dedication.
2) He really likes drinking beer- this is not a Canadian exclusive item- but it doesn't hurt-usually drinks Canadian Beer.
3) Many Kickers are from different countries-he might be hiding this to avoid scrutiny from up north.
4) His best friends on the team are Spaeth, Sepulveda, and Greg Warren- not Canadians- but they are white guys and Spaeth is from Minnesota.
5) He has an ego, he is pretty out-spoken for a Kicker, has crazy hair-styles that draw attention, takes pictures of his privates to send to people, and is generally focused on self-centered actions that are landing him in trouble with the police- these actions are not historically Canadian actually quite the contrary- which may be exactly what he wants us to think.

So if he is a Canadian in hiding- it would be nice to know. We do know that he is exhibiting some Canadian Behaviour and most importantly, we have no room on the Steelers for the distracting shenanigans that he is exhibiting.

Solution- Maybe James Harrison should make a call down to North Carolina, retrieve the "Cowher Dild0" and start to explain to Mr. Reed the level of respect that he should be showing the Pittsburgh Steelers.

BTW- I love Canada and hockey and in no way would cast dispersions on them- I am just looking for answers.

canadian or not, the guy has been pretty clutch. his off-the-field behavior is irrelevant to me as long as he continues to hit +80% numbers through the season.

I am all for letting production do the talking and although he has shown some chinks in the armour of late, he has been a good kicker and has been clutch. We should be careful to throw to the side any expectations of personal conduct-as long as they are "producing" lest we become the Bungles, Raiders, or Cowboys. Their low standards of personal conduct, among other things, haven't brought them too much success lately...

Regardless of the "Rooney" Way- I don't want to see Steelers in trouble with the Police because that kind of recklessness sets a bad example and even if it isn't affecting his play now-I like to think as a general rule- we avoid things that might..

Jeff Reed should stay as he does an excellent job of kicking field goals at not an easy park to kick at.

i am very confident that, if his average for the year isn't 80-85%, he will not be with us next season. right now, he is at 70%.

who do we need to talk to about getting a reed percentage tracker somewhere? that would be cool considering this being a contract year.

Creative and funny post!

Professional football players need to set a good example in their communities. Jeff Reed definitely does not do that. If he did the Steelers would have FOR SURE signed him this preseason based on his high percentage of FGs the last 6 seasons, the fact that they didn't tells you something. So even though he's in a contract year, he gets drunk and causes trouble which blows up all over the Pittsburgh media. Not a smart move by Reed if he wants to stay a Steeler. He needs a major attitude adjustment for the Steelers to resign him. The first of which is he needs to quit drinking altogether during the season. I admit he might be tough to replace, but if I'm the Rooneys I let him go if he doesn't show a major attitude adjustment.

I think maybe that "Cowher Dild0" is even more necessary than before- he acts like he did off the field then then tries to "punk" Harvin instead of trying to tackle him...

Nice dedication Mr. Reed- I see you will pick a fight with a Cop/civil servant- but you won't try to tackle a returner-something that is clearly part of your job...and almost cost us a victory-

Wow, that was hard to watch- wonder what his teammates will think of Mr. tough-guy now...

I love this place. Jeffey is still a very good field goal man. His KO suck ass and now we know he is a pussy when it comes to tackling. Remember Sepulveda blasting the returner last week?

To be fair- Sepulveda is Texan- which could be its own nationality.

I don't expect Reed to hit people like Sepulveda- there is a size difference- but wrap up- try to tackle- come on that kind of effort is insulting to the Steelers jersey. Maybe he wouldn't have been able to make the play- and I know being out on an island like that with a guy like Harvin coming at you full blast is not something anyone would have an easy time with- but Reed was close enough to try to bump him- he did a decent job forcing him to one side- he just should have tried to tackle instead of push. That bump is the pussy way out-especially for such a big tough football player that fights with cops. An effort to tackle would have sufficed.

There certainly was enough blame to go around on that play-but after everything else and his players sticking up for his off field antics- he pulls this crap for them. He could have saved some face with a nice effort-

Or he was hung over- and saw 2 Percy Harvin's and picked the wrong one...

Oh and Canadians are tough and play hockey- and would never let the threat of pain affect their play. Jeff Reed is probably not Canadian.
