Why do we take Hines Ward for granted?

Postby SteelBeach » Wed Oct 21, 2009 10:03 pm

Seriously, all this talk of Troy, Harrison, Ben, Mendy...have we forgotten the guy who smiles while taking a crack from Ed Reed? The guy who year in and year out has been the go to guy for every quarterback since he's been with us? Super Bowl MVP? Steelers' all-time touchdown reception leader?

Been a fan since 1975. Hines Ward is my favorite Steeler of all time. Only one thing can happen when the sad day comes on which he chooses to retire....run for president!!!

hes got my vote

i have bought 2 jerseys in my life and they both have #86 on them if the whole team worked as hard as he did there wouldnt be a team in the NFL that could beat us hands down it would be a race for who is going to get the number 31 draft pick this next year

if the whole team did work that hard and play the game Hines does espn would show highlights of teams getting field goals against us cause a team that scored would be far and few between

I think you may be the only person who "takes him for granted". He is probably 85% of this board's favorite player.

Well he doesn't constantly tell everybody how good he is like TO, Ocho, and other turds like them. He doesn't run a 4.4. So naturally he is overlooked in the media and by most fans. Yet he continues to spin corners around. See Cromartie SD. Love it.

maybe he can have better luck than swann's political aspirations

swann's wiki rumors him to be running for governor again in 2010

I've never, nor will I ever, take #86 for granted. What I was referring to is that if you read the posts from the main contributors; Mill, SteelHaven, llyodgreene...and so on, his contribution, if mentioned, is rarely highlighted. For example, nowhere on this site is he getting credit for leading the NFL!?!?!

I just feel he gets overlooked and -ahem- taken for granted...

you are absolutely right, beach.

harrison gets 3 sacks: praise.

ben throws for 4 TDs: praise.

willie rushes for more than 20 yards: praise.

troy has 3 INTs: praise.

hines has an almost career day in yards gained: he's doing his job.

hines epitomizes what a football player is and should be. the guy gives 100%, every down, every game. sure he's not flashy or controversial. because he doesn't put himself in the light doesn't mean we should be hesitant to put that light on him.

give credit where credit is due, when it is due.

Great Post Beach!!!

Hines Ward is my absolute favorite Steeler. I hope he decides to CONTINUE his coaching career with the Steelers after his playing career is over (a sad day that will be). There's no way Tone, Wallace, Randall El, etc. would be the recievers they are w/o the influence of #86. :sucope: :sucope: :sucope: :sucope:

Then, there's Sweed.....

Randle El? The dude sucks. Nothing more than a myth in Pittsburgh, which was, lucky for us, enough for Snyder to take the bait.

Thank you, sir. I'm glad to see people chiming in and supporting the PsychoWard. I think I'll be sure and sing his praises here anytime it's deserved....like every week!

I have loved Hines since the beginning of his career with us. The guy had to sit behind Troy "wasted pick" Edwards and he just kept playing. He kept playing and smiling and working. Of all the great players that have come through the Steelers organization, he is one of my absolute favorites. His work ethic, physical play and workman like attitude epitomize what the Steelers are all about.

I am thrilled at the accolades he is now receiving and I almost feel like his accomplishments are all of ours to share, cause that is how he is. Hall-of-Fame player, hall-of-fame person, hall-of-fame character!

I agree that he sucks.....now. My point was that he was better when he was in camp w/ #86.

randel-el was a fun role player guy, nothing more. 'skins overpaid like they always do, and wanted him to be a #2, which he clearly isn't.
