When will the Old Man start his meltdown?

Postby MDSteelersFan » Tue Oct 20, 2009 3:47 pm

At 39, Brett Favre made it through eleven NFL games with the Jets before his old body broke down. You will remember the Jets were 8-3 and Favre had thrown 20 TDs vs. 13 picks and had a QB rating of 94.1 - - The NY media thought it was 1969 all over again.

Then reality set in. The old man threw 2 TDs and 9 picks in his last 5 games, sported a 55.2 QB rating and went 1-4 down the stretch (including a truly pitiful 3-pick performance in week 17 vs. the 'Fins.)

This year he is 40. No way he makes it through 11 games like he did last year. The question is: does he make it through seven?

I am hopeing that we can control the run very well and make the aarp member beat us with his arm. I know that he is capable of doing this but i dont think he has it in him to do it in our house

He works far less for this team then he needed to do with the Jets.

Having Peterson helps. Good Oline, and Dline, decent team overall. He is still having fun, and that's when/where he is the most dangerous.

Stillers need to make HIM win the game under duress. Then we'll see some picks... I hope.

Stop AP/(any RB they plug in) at any cost, then build somewhat of a lead (haha, seems 3 TDs is barely adequate with our D), and then make him come back 2-3 times.

Ah, then need to make sure Reed has minimum required blood-alcohol level necessary to perform. Suggest a number....

I think we SHOULD win, but with our problems on the Defense, I am "cautiously optimistic"! :)

Im thinking somewhere around like a .05 and if he misses we should increase the amount of Iron City he has in his cup

After this Sunday the love fest for Farve should be over. Vikes will start going down hill after we put it on that ass.

As soon as Mr. Harrison is in his face for the first time. What I really want to know...how the hell can Hines Ward be so good?

Hines Ward for President.

this is the biggest issue in my mind. favre is one of the best at 4Q comebacks, and our defense has given up over 9000 points in the 4th.

if they have the lead, they have a great running game to run out the clock.

if we have the lead, we haven't proven the ability to keep it defensively.

not expecting, no... just my biggest concern.

no matter how the first three quarters go, it could get rough at the end.

fair enough. i completely understand.

i am pretty confident that the late-game collapses have been due to opposing defensive coordinators finally making the right adjustments in their scheme to work against the holes created in our D with troy out. that, coupled with our inability to move the chains with any consistency late has caused 2 unnecessary losses.

with troy back and the offense showing signs of kicking on all cylinders, i don't foresee a late-game collapse against the vikings.
