Let's get the Jergens and all beat Mendy off.

We'll love this guy until he fumbles. I'll give you he had a great night. And he has done more this year than FWP.

However, he's running way too high (even Collinsworth can see that) and these cute spin moves will stop shortly as he'll get the piss knocked out of him spinning around like that. Someone needs to tell this kid he is in the NFL now.

Right now, if the defense can't get their shit together, it will not matter who is at RB.

I have never been a fan of Davis BUT he is a lot better than Summers. What does the coaching staff see in Summers? I have no clue.

Backup FB Legursky pounded some flesh, but Delicious gets the hard hat for his crowd-pleasing block, not to mention his 165 rushing yards...

That was nice, wasn't it? That and the halfback passes (Moore's and the one Tone was going to attempt) show some forward thinking finally. :suplusone:

Is it just me... or did Mendy look like Franco Harris out there? That upright style, similar build, the bursts through the holes, and the lumbering speed downfield. Only thing he didn't do was run out of bounds. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this...

Mendy had a great game, but he couldn't have done it without the line. The holes were nice at times, but RM did a lot himself. I don't give our line credit too much, but they played very well last night. One side note...if Parker had some of those holes he might've gone to the house. One thing Parker has over him is that blazing speed. On the other hand, Parker wouldn't have been able to drive the D-line like Mendy did. That was a big time block he had on the LB also.

if parker had some of those holes he would..

- not hit the hole fast enough cause he's too busy tiptoeing and it would close on him
- not see the hole and run into his own guard, then get tackled for a 3 yard loss
- instead of breaking tackles like mendenhall did on some of his long games, he'd get stopped for a 5 yard gain tops

another thing about willie, is that his speed is his only asset.

what he doesn't have:
vision
quickness
power

which means unless a hole is opened up where the play was designed to, he's not going anywhere but into the back of one of his linemen, only to lack the quickness to bounce it outside, meaning he will most likely get stopped for a loss. he's fast in a straight line but isn't quick at changing directions or powerful enough to run through an arm tackle. how many defenders do you see him beat in a 1on1 situation? i seen mewelde moore do it with his quickness, and mendenhall wasn't someone the SD tacklers could bring down without sticking a helmet or pads into. willie should be our #3 back in my opinion.

even last season I thought the same way, mewelde moore was a much better fit into our system. he doesn't have the breakaway speed that parker has, but still had more rushes of 20+ yards than parker did because he's quick enough to make the first defender miss. for a running back to be successful in this league you have to be able to win some of those 1on1 battles, and parker almost never does.

great example play. right after the play-action out. a bread-n-butter staple of steeler football. pull-n-go. kemo KOed. mendy zipped through. parker would have stopped to bounce back and forth deciding which way to run around the small gap he just missed.

i like that mendy runs with conviction. he could turn out to be an AP like back. we know the nfl lacks and needs more AP like backs.
