Roster Moves - Sweed and Davis

Postby IronCity__Man » Tue Sep 29, 2009 2:38 pm

Tomlin said in his press conference that Sweed will be deactivated next week and McDonald will be in. Glad to hear this - I like Shaun McDonald.

Steelers just resigned Carey Davis as fullback because of Johnson's injury. Bad move. We needed to find a real blocker not a pseudo fullback.

agreed. mcdonald should be an upgrade

and i also can't stand carey 'big for nothing' davis. for such a huge back he goes down like a 2 dollar whore when hes hit by someone half his size

After all that moaning about Davis.. no one wanted him on the roster, but his replacement was far inferior. This is a tiny step in the right direction.

What about Issac Redman, He looked great in pre-season (granted against 2nd or 3rd string defenses). I also read that he was the ONLY back to score in short yardage drills against OUR defense. How do you not use this weapon?

So Issac Redman scored in short yardage against our defense.....so, here is the "math"

If Redman scored in short yardage situations....against our defense...and they can't seem to score in the redzone or convert a simple 3/1 against an opposing defense....what's that say about the Steeler's defense?

As much as Redman is a beast in short yardage (and possibly elsewhere if given the opportunity) and as much as A$$FUK Arians denies it, the team needs a capable blocking FB so it does not render their best TE useless in the passing game. Redman proved to be a very poor blocker in the preseason. I would still like to see him dressed on game day, but this move makes sense, sort of.
