i heard they re-signed carey davis, which is nothing to really celebrate about

mcdonald over sweed is a move that i like, until sweet gets his shit together he should only be allowed to play in garbage time, if even that. mcdonald i'm curious to see what he can do against a starting defense, he did look impressive in the preseason. he can definitely catch the ball which automatically makes him better than sweed

I am glad they are benching "I must Peed" and putting McDonald on. They still aren't addressing the issue of the O-line with Ron Cook sorta making excuses that Mendenhall doesn't have anyone to mentor him. My take is that you either have it or you don't-FWP and Mendenhall probably don't in my opinion O-line notwithstanding.

While we have all been frustrated by the drop by Sweed and the other lapses the Steelers have experienced, the fact remains they clearly outplayed the Bengals and should have won the game. The problem they experienced was similar to that in the Super Bowl. After controlling the ball and the clock for most of the game and leading comfortably, they played the modern version of "turtle ball" in the fourth quarter. The Ben passing attack which was killing the Bengals was twice tossed aside for two (poor) runs up the middle and a long third down attempt. On the first, they converted for six on third and seven and had to punt for the first time in the game. On the second, Ben was sacked for the only time.

If we do not change this mentality, we will continue to let games we should win slip away. Arians needs to understand that we have no ability to run the ball when everyone knows we will run. We can only gain yards on the ground as part of a mix and match approrach. If we continued to mix it up on offense in the fourth quarter, there is no evidence the Bengals could have stopped us and the defense would not have been on the field for six minutes at the end.

In reality, it is no different in other sports like basketball. There, if you move the ball around, you can feed the post and score inside. However, at the end of the game, if you suddenly abandon ball movement and just feed the post when everyone knows you will do so, your post man cannot score and you can be shut down late in a game by a team that otherwise could not cover your best players. When that happens, your team is vulnerable to a BS comeback. :(
