Long Snap Counts

Postby Pump-N-Iron » Mon Sep 28, 2009 1:16 pm

Was it just me or did Ben go WAY overboard with the long snap counts??? It seemed like every play was the same:

1. Line up.
2. Change formation from step 1.
3. Send someone in motion.
4. WAIT 4-5 long snap counts so the Defense has scads of time to adjust proper alignment.
5. Make sure, if someone has jumped offsides, that they, too, are allowed to reset.
6. Snap the ball and get stopped for No Gain.

You think we might want to snap the ball occasionally when the guy is still in motion and defenders are out of position? Or maybe go on a quick count to catch teams off guard?

Ohhh.... right! This is the BA offense and that wouldn't be fair to the defense.

why would we ever change something

the BA O only changes when something works so we will be sitting there all season long with long snap counts and the same bland O that we have come to expect

I would think that this consistency is helpful to the O-line for one reason or another. I wouldn't assume Ben doesn't think about trying to catch the Defense by surprise, but that it's more important to have the O-line in sync.
