Remain calm---plenty of football left!

Postby FineLine » Sun Sep 27, 2009 9:57 pm

Tomlin,LeBeau and Arians won't be fired. The Steelers will not finish 1-15,they will not become the Lions or any other absurd scenarios coming from the hysterical overreactors. You win a Super Bowl, stuff happens. You miss field goals, miss key tackles, drop TD's.You get the best from the opposition every week because as champ you are the measuring stick. They won 8 straight on the road against a division opponent. That's hard to do and it had to end sometime. The little things they did last year aren't happening now.
There is cause for concern. The offense can't finish drives.Defense can't finish games. But there are 13 games left with plenty of softies on the schedule.

If we can't finish drives and our defenese tires out in the 2nd half, then there are no "softee" teams on the schedule. Just ask the Deadkins how that worked out in Detriot today.

the last 2 teams were softies that we failed to win against. just because we have a soft schedule doesnt mean we win all those games we're supposed to win. after all, we were 'supposed to win' the last 2 games. how'd that work out?

That is precisely the laissez faire attitude that has us 1-2. We must approach this problem as if there is NO TIME. As if there is a fire in the ammunition depot because we lost to the Bears and the Bungals!

The goal must be

1) replace FGs with TDs
2) NO FUCKING 4th QTR points allowed by defense
3) reduce errors made by the coaching staff - this means shoddy clock management and faulty play selelction such as 4th down decisions

Number 3 will NOT happen. Typically the last thing CEOs do is critique themselves. I see no evidence that Tomlin will heed his own pattern of horrible 4th down decision making. This call to action must come from someone above him. (rooney)

Remain calm i remember a few years back we stayed calm and didnt make the playoffs. IM sorry Remain calm is not a option we need to quit playing billy blow hard football and start playing like the champions that we are

The defense needs to be kicked in the ass. Two straight games giving up double digit leads and if you count the Super Bowl 3 out of 4.
People can blame the offense all they want, but 20 points should be enough to win a game, especially if the defense is supposed to be so great.

If alarm bells are not going off about where this team is going You cannot be a true fan of the black and gold. This unfocussed team starts from the head coach on down. This looks terriblily familar with the last time we were defending SB champs. It starts with the cupcake training camp Tomolin ran to equal no teeth defense we have today. Complacency has set in. There a good chance Detroit will get there second win in two weeks. Can you say Playoffs, Playoffs not a chance.

Can't panic - we clearly miss Troy. Hey - Crows next play @NE, Cincy, & @ Minn so they could drop a few there too. We've gotta start w/ SD & then take care of Cleve & Detroit. The D is faltering but the O can't continue to leave pts on the field.

Remember the slow starts in the Cowher years? They were 3-4 in 95 and took the AFC.Last year they had a horrific loss to Philly to go 2-1.Now they are 1-2.That's a ONE GAME difference. Now maybe the defense is getting old(Farrior) or some are having a hangover (Holmes) or can't play(Sweed and Mendy).I'm just saying too many get too high after wins and too low after losses.
I predict they will be 10-4 heading into the Balt game in Dec.

The problem with this team is its inability to score points/make conversions in what ought to be high percentage situations.

You can't miss field goals in today's NFL. Anything closer than 50 yards has to be made.

If you are at the 1 yard line in the first half, YOU ALWAYS GO FOR IT.

The decision making at the coaching level is highly suspect.

20pts is not enough to win. Look at the teams that score more than us - Detroit, Denver (w/Kyle Orton), San Fran (w/Shaun Hill), Jacksonville. None of those teams will not be there in the end. We shucked up our 13pts to Tenn as facing a tough defense but Houston put up 34 and the Jets, with a Rookie QB, put up 24.

Our defense is good but counting on them to win games for an entire new season is asking too much.

Does anyone think we can beat Baltimore once, yet alone twice? We are already staring down a wildcard after week 3.

Please, Kemo, block somebody. Even on our good runs he is whiffing on people.
