News on Polamalu's injury

Postby thesteelhammer » Fri Sep 11, 2009 8:34 am

Sean Leahy, of USA Today, reports Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said SS Troy Polamalu (knee) suffered a sprained MCL in his knee Week 1 that could keep him out for three to six weeks. Tomlin said the diagnosis is preliminary and refused to rule out that the injury could be more serious than a sprain.

Madden's Curse?
Could be worse.

What makes it hurt even more was that it was on a FG attempt !!

Screw Madden's curse. More like Tomlin's youth as a coach. How about we don't put one of our defensive MVP's on special teams...

An emphasis on the importance of special teams is a good thing. But putting your STAR starters in there to potentially get hurt trying to stop 3 points... Just wtf were they thinking? WE need the interceptions that only troy seems to know how get much more than we need to block a field goal...

If you take all the good players off the field then Aaron Smith doesnt get his hand on the ball, field goal would be good, and we dont get to play in overtime and today you bitch that its Tomlin's fault that we DONT have good players on the field.

Troy's injury was a result of him trying to do too much, much like Ward's fumble at the 4. Instead of jumping on the ball, he tries to scoop it up and take it the other way.

Let's hope that Polamalu has a speedy recovering..Tyrone "Hurricane" Carter and the rest of the secondary needs to step up.

Hard to just fall on the ball when you play with Troy's "mania". I do wish he'd stop the "throw downs" when he takes guys out of bounds though. We don't need to give the extra 15 yds. I do agree with lloydgreene, we need his hands in the secondary. We don't need him on any ST. Aaron Smith gives us height up front.

No way does Hines do the "Donovan Drop", the "Woods Wobble". He's won too many games, TOOOOOOO many clutch catches to critcize for not doing the expediant thing. Opening day, crowd going wild, silent scoreboard against a team that dissed ya and you're 4 yds out? You have to go for it. Super Bowl thoughts of Tone getting the stage and here is HIS chance again! Just a fluke.

If Anyone remembers and learns from this, it will be Mr. 86. We'll see these guys again.

Anyone think Collins can't throw anymore?

lets take a look at our next 6 opponents

week 1 without troy
da bears
2008 pass rank 21st rushing 24th

week 2 without troy
the bungels
2008 pass rank 30th rushing 28th

week 3 without troy
diego
2008 pass rank 7th rushing 20th

week 4 without troy
the losers
2008 pass rank 24th rushing 30th

week 5 without troy
the clowns
2008 pass rank 31st rushing 26th

week 6 without troy "hopefully the last if not sooner"
the purple peter eaters
2008 pass rank 25th rushing 5th

if you ask me other then then diego i think that this is the best possible time because after the peter eaters we have the bye so he has basically a extra week to get back to health it is a blessing that if it was going to happen it happened at this time of the year and not when we are making a run to the playoffs or starting the playoffs
"Now that I'm here, I don't want to just be here, I want to be here for a long time." Hines Ward :D, 1998.

Huge loss. However, we do have capable backups and the teams we play are not the 07 Pats.

In my opinion give Troy the time he needs to come back 100%. Not 80% and risk another injury. You need him for the back half of the season when the teams we play are in general tougher.

And last year in the AFCCG after the interception he probably should have just gone down instead of taking it back across the field.

Troy was everywhere in the first half. "Trying to do too much" is how he plays the game, just like Hines is always fighting for the extra yards, and BR7 holds onto the ball too long sometimes...Sometimes when they do this it hurts us, but most of the time when they do this it wins us games and championships.

If you ask me. He deserves to be hurt like this, if not worse. He always dives at players knees. I lost count of how many times he did it in last weeks game. And it's not just him. How about Kemo Von Olhaven? Ring a bell anyone? He almost ended a young and a potential elite quater back on a cheep panzy late LOW hit. They always dive at the knees and should be punished for. FYI.... IT IS ILLEAGAL!!! Get with the frieking program Shittsburgh. This isn't 1975 where everything goes. Yes I think they have a bit too many rules regarding hitting the quarterback but that is only for you to blame. The Madden Curse lives and Karma sucks don't it Shittsburgh. You guys stand for eveything that is wrong with Football.

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers SS Troy Polamalu (knee) said there is nothing more wrong then the sprained medial collateral ligament and will not need any surgery. Polamalu said he will need to rest his knee for three to six weeks. He is wearing a brace on his knee.

Dish What? You are on this site. You also failed to leave any fodder for me to make a comeback.

I am going to assume you are a Bungels fan for the following reasons:

1. Only a loser-ass Bungels fan would bring up a legal hit from four years ago.
Dive for the Knees wrote: How about Kemo Von Olhaven? Ring a bell anyone? He almost ended a young and a potential elite quater back on a cheep panzy late LOW hit.
(elite my ass, btw)

2. Too ashamed to even identify your team. A Stiller is never ashamed, 1-15 or 15-1.

3. You're such a bitter loser that you would sit down with some vaseline, napkins and a laptop and rile up some Stiller fans, on their own site no less.

Well, I hope you got your Jollies off b/c the highlight of your season (if indeed you are a Bengal fan) was Hard Knocks on HBO. "Kiss Da Baby"

(elite my ass

that statement caught my eye as well, but he said "potential" elite qb.

any new quarterback has the potential to be elite.

and to be fair... palmer would have more success if his best receiver wasn't a self-centered douche bag who needs so much attention he changed his last name.
