Pure mind-boggling. The suits may be helping to set WR's but everyone is wearing them. Ignoring the records, he just turns it on and pulls away when needed. The drive is still alive... let's go Michael!

USA back in lead of medal count.
Still trailing in number of golds though.
Phelps is dominate. Will be interesting to see if he can finish strong on his last two races.
BTW: only one more is an individual race, so he'll be relying on some teammates to break the record.

Gotta say that I am very disappointed in the U.S. Greco Wrestling team. They were last years world team champions.
Only Adam Wheeler medaled.
Wheeler won a bronze medals in the 96-kilogram Greco-Roman wrestling class.
Wheeler's medal prevented the U.S. Greco team from being shut out in the Olympics for the first time since 1988.

Hammer, what network was the wrestling on? I've been watching NBC, CNBC and MSNBC, and didn't see it.

Aha! And here I was thinking I was losing my mind because I couldn't find it on television.

Wasn't that race something? Soooo close! Bob Costas just had a nice interview between both Michael Phelps and Mark Spitz. It was very obvious they both admire and respect each other a great deal. Too bad Mark couldn't be in China to award Michael the Gold medal. He said he wishes he could have been, but he wasn't asked.

Amazing swim effort by the US team. Both men and women. The Aussie women were tremendous and good sports throughout. The US men were the same. I really got roped into the Olympics due to swimming. Don't get me wrong, I was going to watch anyway, but the swimmers truly pulled me in like a strong gravity.
I take my hats off to Phelps (for obvious reasons), Coughlin and Torres. Tremendous efforts by all.
As for Torres... 41? Are you kidding? Unreal! Exciting stuff.

That jamaican sprinter, Bolt, blew away the field in the 100.
Broke the world record and even let up at the end. crazy.

Hammer,
That WAS crazy... he crossed the finish like like and still smoked the field.
The funny thing being that the 200 is apparently his race. If he shows up for the 200, look out world, it might be Michael Johnson-esque.

I agree, trenches. The US swim team is to be commended for their efforts during these Olympic games. They conducted themselves in accordance with the true spirit of the Games. Each and every one of them gave it their very best, and that is all we can ask for.
Now that Phelps' mission is complete, I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him on our television screens, magazine covers, etc. He will be raking in the $$$ in endorsements, I'm sure, and it is very much deserved. Bummer that he's a Ravens fan. Think we can convert him?

NICE!
400m hurdles swept by the US men's team. You don't get to see a clean sweep in a track and field event that often!

I noticed that, too, but I don't think it had the same effect on me as it did on you.

WTG, Misty and Kerri! They just won their 108th consecutive match, and 2nd consecutive Olympic gold medal in beach volleyball. So awesome!
That may just be the last we see them play for awhile. They've both stated they want to start having children after these Olympic games. Good luck and best wishes to both Misty and Kerri.

I have no doubt their husbands would step aside to make room for your super "swimmers."
