AUTOGRAPH SESSIONS AND SOME ADVICE PLEASE?!?!?!

Postby Crucible-steel-kid » Sun Aug 23, 2009 3:22 pm

This is a long post, but your patience in letting me make my point is appreciated.

Does anyone remember when the 1970's Steelers all got together at the David Lawrence Convention Center and they had that reunion in 1998/1999 to commemorate the the 25th anniversary of S.B. 14 and 100% of the team showed up to do mass signings? People had to buy tix to get various players, Joe Greene was like $75.00, Johnny Stallworth was $20.00, etc. etc?

The reason I mention it is this: there was some steel mogul there that paid an artist $10,000.00 to have an oil painting made that was used to make reproduction posters passed out at the reunion, and he paid to have everyone sign that painting from Dan Rooney & Coach Noll down to the punter. Instead of me trying to run around and get the S.B. XL team to sign my Stillers memorabilia, I am wondering if I should wait for another one of these events.

I heard that many of the players did not get paid for their time and signings and that there was some type of lawsuit going on. If any of "yinzers" are autograph collectors, do you have any advice for getting the more high profile players to sign, possibly without having to pay for them? Thanks for the input...
