Dixon

Postby SteelCityFan » Fri Aug 14, 2009 12:19 am

Thoughts on Dixon? He looked like complete dog shit his first couple of series but then came on and made some great throws later in the third and fourth quarters. After watching Batch play in limited action, do you think Dixon can steal the clipboard from him?

I want him to, but probably not. Batch is getting up in age so it would be nice to have a solid backup in the wings, maybe not this year but Dixon will be a decent QB

I hope he pans out too. Nice arm, great athletic abiltity. He just looks real raw right now. It would be nice to see him continue to mature as the preseason moves along.

Im hopoing Arians lets him scramble more

because his running threat is something that will help him open up Defenses as a QB.

Dixon was bound to be a little rusty having not thrown a ball in anger in a year.

From what i've seen this guy is composed in the pocket, and will be able to escape the inevitable pressure that playing behind our line brings!

Having the imobile Charlie at No.2 could be dangerous to his health and our continued success!

If I was Mike, . . . . Dixon would be nailed on number 2.

One thing i liked was how he sat in the pocket

he made his throws in the face of rushes, converting several 1st downs while taking full on hits.

He had some misthrows here and there, but as a backup i think he looked improved.

Get him experience as soon as possible. I love Charlie but his time has come and gone. There is no denying that Leftwhich was a HUGE upgrade over CB last year; Charlie is nice but is limited and isn't getting any younger. Give Dixon the time under center he needs to gain experience and confidence.

Yes. we'd ALL like to see more of him, but we have Arians. Just as Sweed wasn't ready for the playoffs, Dixon will not see the field even if we're up 32-0 in 4th qtr. Gosh, I hate his play calling.
That said, I am big on wallace as #4 or 5. McDonald probably makes it on experience but this draft will produce.

Seppy's back and field position will improve greatly once defense gets opposition pinned inside 15 yd line.
Can you say WILDCAT to start a few drives from mid-field? Oh yeah, you and I can, but remember,... we got Arians. Let's all use it, ... "WGA"! Can't he get cut?

If Ben were to go down, I'd rather have Batch coming off the bench than Dixon...With our defense as dominant as it is, I'd rather have a game-manager type QB coming in, than one who is more hit or miss athletic style. I think Dixon has a lot of upside, but at this point I'd still rather have Charlie coming in, simply bc you know what you're going to get.

Circa Nov 2004 . . .

Roethlisberger's first NFL pass fell incomplete, and his next one was intercepted. Now look at him. He's playing more like a veteran of five years than a rookie who has played five games.

His 100.1 passer rating ranks fourth in the league. He has completed 78 of 113 passes for 937 yards and seven touchdowns, with four interceptions. He has helped lead the Steelers to four consecutive victories and first place in the AFC North.

I'm not saying Dixon is Ben, but I hate to see good young players not get their chance!

Who led the QB ratings last preseason?

Answer: Who cares.

Who was the super bowl champions QB?

Answer: BEN

I'll ake Ben over any other QB playing right now.

He is getting his chance this preseason, and he showed on Thursday, as he has showed in the past, that he is capable of making throws and putting together a drive, but he is still very inconsistent...On a super bowl caliber team, I think you want your backup to be someone who you know exactly what you're going to get from. That is Batch in a nutshell, he may not be the type of QB who is going to carry you to victory, but he is going to give the other guys around him the opportunity to win the game.

I'll say it again, if Ben were to go down, do you want Dixon coming in who may play great or may lay an egg. Or would your rather have Batch coming in to manage the game and give the other playmakers on our team an opportunity to win...I know which one I'll take

That impressed me also. He stayed focused and calm in the face of pressure and delivered some good throws later in the game. He looked rusty at first, but then seemed to settle in. Looks like he's added a few pounds also. I'd like to see more, but I really like how he reacted to pressure.
Marines should come with warning labels.
