XM/Sirius NFL Channel Comments on Ben

Postby SteelCityFan » Thu Aug 06, 2009 11:42 pm

I was listening to the NFL channel on XM/Sirius today and they happened to be at Latrobe for the Steelers training camp. The commentators mentioned several times that Ben looked out of sink and was missing wide open receivers. They then talked to Mike Wallace, and a few minutes later, William Gay. They asked what was up with Ben, why was he missing guys and throwing so many interceptions. Wallace and Gay both said they thought Ben was doing fine. Gay mentioned that they jumped a few routes on him and made some picks but that it was no big deal. From everything I've been reading, on this beautiful site and others, Ben has been doing just fine. So what are these commentators seeing that no one else is? Did anyone else happen to hear the show today?

FOR STARTERS, THESE ARE COMMENTATORS THAT GET PAID TO HYPE STUFF UP WHEN THERE MAY BE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO THE STORY. SECONDLY, THEY ARE JUST COMING BACK AND TRYING TO GET READY FOR BUSINESS AND A LITTLE RUST IS EXPECTED. THIRD, IF THE SHIT WERE TO CONTINUE INTO REGULAR SEASON, THEN WE'D HAVE SOMETHING TO BITCH ABOUT. THE MORAL OF THE STORY? RELAX AND LET THE BOYS SETTLE IN AND GET READY FOR THE '09 CAMPAIGN...

The show you're referring to is Movin' The Chains on Sirius NFL Radio.

This is the single most legit football show on radio. It's hosted by Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan. Ryan is a former player and Kirwan was a coach/scout/front office guy for like 25 years. They aren't guys who are gonna sit there and overhype things. Sirius sends them to Latrobe every year because they're the most respected guys they have. In fact, while every other team gets a single 2-3 hour 'training camp' show, the Steelers got 2 this year. Including one that superseded their normal audio-only simulcast of NFL Network's Total Access this last Friday.

By his own admission, Ben hasn't felt 100%. That's probably all they're sayin.
