Will Arians make it through the season?
I think the only thing that saved his worthless ass was the SB win (of which he had very little to do with, overall) If the Defense hadn't pulled his peanuts out of the fire on numerous occasions I feel he would have been gone long ago.
But a SB Victory only lasts through the off season and everyone is again equal at the beginning of the new season. If we see the same crap as we saw last year, how long do you think he'll last before he gets canned? Mid-season?

Re: Will Arians make it through the season?
Please, Please let him be 1 of the 1st cuts!
Wouldn't you love to get the offense off-site and get their TRUE thoughts on this guy? It still amazes me that he was the architect of the Kelly Holcomb game (Cleveland) where Kelly threw for about 500 yards 5 or 6 yrs ago. Steelers could not stop him but I believe we still won that game. That was the game that made Kelly a millionaire with Buffalo I think in the off-season. He hasn't done squat since that game and may be out of the league by now.
Gosh, I wish BA would go away. TMP = Total Misuse of Players.
He belongs in the Big Ten ( and I mean when it WAS the Big Ten.) Up the middle, Up the middle, Around the end and Punt.

Re: Will Arians make it through the season?
Arians will not be fired this year and if he continues to improve like he did after the Philly game last year he might not go anywhere for less than a HC job.
The loss to Philly last year was the best thing that happened. Arians and Ben both made concerted efforts to improve the game plan. And while the offense still sputtered at times, this team went 15-4 against a grueling schedule.
Arians isn't going anywhere, and I would bet he's forgotten more about football than you two know.

Re: Will Arians make it through the season?
We won with defense. The offense was ranked below half the league. With the talent pool BA has to draw from, there is NO reason we should have to have Ben pull out 4th qtr miracles in as many games as he has had to. Sure, it is exciting, but I would bet those 4th qtr drives were Ben's calls / audibles.
It is about his predicability and lack of imagination. He is a Big Ten offense guy. Pro game not to his skill set. Sorry, this guy is more harm than good.

Re: Will Arians make it through the season?
Arians is anything but predictable. Who runs a reverse on the 5th play of a game? Have you ever seen a fake double reverse draw? Arians did it with Dumptruck = -3 yds. 3rd & 6 sweep around your backup LT. That's Arians. BUT, I thought I noticed improvement down the stretch with his playcalling and ability to adjust. Just wait and see how good Mendenhall & Moore make him look this year.

Not a fan of BA but he's not going any where. I've resigned to hoping he improves.

and who do we replace him with - Ken Anderson, Fichtner (2yrs experience in NFL), Zierlein (lifelong off. line coach)? We are stuck with Arians for the season.

Hell's Bells! I'd replace him with almost anyone of the regular posters to this board! Many of the 'regulars' on this board have more football knowledge ( and logic) in their little finger than that moron has in his whole fat body! What the Hell! They sure couldn't do any worse!

Who runs Boise State's Offense? That school is hoot to watch and you can tell players love being there. they always put up numbers (granted it's college), but it is a fun "O" to watch. There are guys out there with imagination. Said it before, our best Offensive game Plans were the playoff stretch to SB with Seahawks. Wide open pass offense using everyone and getting defenses on their heels. Denver, Indy had no %^&$ idea what was coming, where it was coming from, and when it would come! 2nd halves were crush 'em-time as games were just about over by then (Indy excluded) and we just wore 'em out.
Geez, with Hines, Miller, now Tone getting it done, and some backfield punch ability, we better score 20-25 by halftime. Softer schedule helps (we'll get their "A" games, we all know that) but why do we wait till final drives for "no-huddle", why are we stuffed on 3rd & 2's, 3rd & 3's. This is where OC make their $.
Arians is a no-show with these calls.

Usually you have to have a reason to fire a coach. Winning a SB usually doesn't cause you to get fired. Since Ben is calling more plays on his own, I don't see Arians going anywhere, even if he isn't my favorite.

Yep, winning solves a lot of problems and overlooks a lot of issues. I just hope they look at film critically and see where the "O" failed on drives and ask why, what they could have done, or what could they have done differently. Geez, just a little introspection and critical analysis is all we ask.
I am big on Seppy and his coffin kicks. I think he was sorely missed last year and now I believe we'll see opposing teams do many more 3 & outs from starting out deep in their own territory and give us better FP to start drives. Hopefully the "D" steps up t stop that 1 big drive every team seemed to get on us last year.
Yes, I to, am resigned to hoping for some BA improvement. We'll see.

Re: Will Arians make it through the season?
We all know Ben is making more and more of the calls on offense. But what I would like to know is exactly how many calls Ben makes on offense. Does Ben have to call a play after Arians has already dug is in a hole? Are Bens calls the ones that are back firing? I believe the bottom line is that if we had a good OC Ben wouldn't need to make any calls. Not that I don't like him calling a play after he reads the defense and everything. But if we had an OC with just a little imagination and a little guts I believe our offfense would be an unstoppable juggernaut!

SCF: You NAILED it! Love to see the comparison or check-off calls: Ben's vs OC's.
said it before, between Hines and Miller you possibly have the best possesion (3rd & short) tandem available at your deposal. Throw in Spaeth as a size mismatch and now the Tank as a blocker/check-down option, we should be at 50% or better on conversions.

I think if we had a good OC Ben would make calls within the well thought out game plan. I think to be effective you have to have lots of input from the QB. He knows what he's confident with and what "feels" right in the flow of the game. I think you pose good questions. I don't think BA goes anywhere after a SB win, even if we won despite him.

THIS is why we want a weight limit on coaches!

Little Joe, you are a complete fucking idiot. Arians is not going anywhere. BTW, we won the SB on offense douchebag after the defense almost lost the game.

Take out James INT return and the game is over.
Can't keep Larry Fitz out of the game forever, but I agree, whatever LeBeau did in 2nd half to change what was working was stupid as well. I

Arians will last the season without a doubt.
I am not an Arians fan and he has done a lot to tick me off. However, at time I think some offenses get set back when they bring in a new coordinator every year or two. I think this hurt the Steelers at times when Cowher lost his OC every two years.

You're absolutely correct.
He forgets everything he knows after the first half.

Whoa, whoa, wwhhoooaaaaa!!!!! You give him way too many memory points. Maybe thru 1st qtr then all goes to his 'other brain", the one he sits on!
So many plays worked in 1st qtr of SB yet we never saw them again.
