Nate - Terrible Towel & Respect
I keep forgetting to put on this board because I have been lost in the Penguins for weeks not that I head an interview with Nate Washington on NFL Sirius. Adam Schein placed him in this scenario: Opening day, you are beating the steelers by 14 with minutes to go and you look over and see White and Bulluck stepping on the terrible towel....what do you do? Nate answered "I pick it up" because (paraphrasing now) it is a respect issue and he respects the players and owners of the steelers not to let that happen. Nice to see a former Steelers player keep his class. Too bad for Schein he won't have to wait and see that happen.

I liked Nate. Thought he would see the ball more. As the fastest guy on the team, as the players seemed to say, why wasn't this guy on more posts and "9's" and 1 on 1's? Thought he would really stretch the defenses and with a shakey OL, I can understand not getting a lot of balls but speed kills and he had it. Geez, maybe some delay crossing patterns underneath and let him run (Larry Fitz in the SB for 64 yds anyone?).
OOPS, ... I know why! We have Arians.

Nate was afraid of contact not to mention he had the worse hands since Dwight Stone. If you remember Cowher put him on the kickoff team to try to toughen him up. The Titans over paid for a pu$$y WR. The average fan who has never played the game doesn't see it. After he dropped an easy TD vs. New England last year I washed my hands of "Crisco". Speed and leaping ability is useless as a NFL WR unless you have courage and hands. He will be a bust in Nashville. He didn't see the ball more because the team lacked confidence in him although the Steelers didn't let other teams know this. His job was to simply take the top off of coverage with his speed and open things up for our real play makers underneath. Wallace is an upgrade over Washington by the way.

Nate will have Jack Daniels, I mean, Kerry Collins, or Vince Young (egad) throwing to him. They better hope LenWhale White or that speedball rookie they had (forgot his name) can go for 100+ every gm. O/wise Nate will be manhandled & alligator-arming everything thrown at him this yr.

Didn't get to see all the games down here in SC but thanks for the info. I did see some T-Rex arms on him a few times but thought it was lack of concentration and not getting enough action. Thought if he had more chances to show something (underneath stuff to show some moves) he could be a gamer at times. He did have a bit of a streak there for 3 or 4 games where he went to the house on big gainers. I do agree that he better take his money and run because he isn't worth that much and glad Rooneys' saw that !
I do like the Wallace pick and hope he isn't Wille Reid. Youtube has some good plays on him.
