Steelers miss opportunity

Postby thesteelhammer » Fri May 29, 2009 9:04 pm

On the same day he was released by the Redskins, OT Jon Jansen has agreed to a one-year deal with Detroit.

Jansen, 33, has made 123 starts in 10 seasons. The Washington Times reported that Jansen will compete with Gosder Cherilus at right tackle. He may also be an option at left guard, where the Lions lack a clear-cut starter.

David Elfin, of The Washington Times, reports the Detroit Lions have signed unrestricted free-agent OT Jon Jansen (Redskins) to a one-year deal. He will earn the veteran minimum salary.

Jansen is a Michigan boy, I doubt any other team had a shot at him.

At this point in his career he is offering a 'Home-team discount' ala Larry Foote.

Jansen is constantly on IR. George Foster is a better risk.
