Where is Bruce Davis on the depth chart?
Scott Brown, of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, reports Pittsburgh Steelers LB Bruce Davis has a chance to be the team's No. 3 outside linebacker this season if he performs well during training camp.
What do you think? Does the kid step up and take that job as the 3rd OLB and maybe even earn some playing time?

Tomlin mentioned him as making big strides in his post draft press conference. If he puts on some "good" weight he can be a player. I watched him at UCLA and he had a big time motor.

I couldn't agree more. I watched this guy a lot in college and he was a BEAST! The only concern I had for him at the pro level was his size. But Silverback has shown that size (height) doesn't matter

It's really amazing how stacked we are at linebacker. Between Woodley, Silverback, Timmons, Bruce Davis, and Farrior, we should be unstoppable and even better than last year (now that Foote got the boot). Look out QBs, and bring some ketchup 'cause you're gonna be eating a lot of turf this year!!

Don't be surprised if Bailey gets more than just special teams reps this year as well.
Barring injuries we are loaded. However, we do need to have Davis, Bailey, and a few others step up and show they can handle the load. It is a scary group of line backers.
I think (hope) the biggest thing that held Davis back last year was learning a new position and the complex Defense of LeBeau.

Re: Where is Bruce Davis on the depth chart?
Seems reasonable to think Davis could have some productive snaps if he is not forced to play every down. His speed could provide some pass rush mismatches on obvious passing downs. He will probably undertake a nickel package specialist role much like LT has the past two seasons, in addition to being the primary back up at both OLB slots.
Then again, Fox may out play him, and Timmons would serve as the top back up at OLB. Keyaron would then be in position to slide into the starting role up the middle.

Timmons starts. End of that story. This beast needs to be on the field and
D's will need to account for him. And Silverback. And Woodley for when he brings the lumber. Scary group.
Like to see if Davis can step in to give the pass-rushers a break now and then from the outside with fresh legs and more pressure. Imagine 4 guys going shopping on Sundays non-stop for QB's. Fox/Bailey gives Potsie some rest. Hope to see 15 - 20 picks this year from all this havoc.

When a guy is a supposed "beast" & is beaten out on spec teams by an UDFA from Duke (Bailey), no less, I have questions of his "motor". This ain't Westwood & you ain't BMOC anymore, bro. The hungry LB corps has no room for a warm body. This guy better step it up or he'll join Alonzo Jackson stacking boxes at the Home Depot.

I am really looking forward to seeing the progress of Mendenhall, Sweed and Davis as they should progress their 2nd year. Of the '09 class I am keeping my eye Hood, Urpik and Shipley.
