Contract Talks with Starks not progressing

Postby thesteelhammer » Mon May 25, 2009 3:05 pm

We are really thin at OT. If Starks held out, we'd be in trouble.
John Harris, of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, reports Pittsburgh Steelers OT Max Starks said talks with the Steelers on a long-term deal have not progressed much. "It appears to be at a standstill," Starks said. "I thought I was a priority before. Then, they did [LB James Harrison's] deal when he had one year left. So apparently, I'm a lower man on the totem pole than I thought."

Did he really think he was more of a priority than James Harrison? Is he smoking crack?

What he should have said is that I want too much money.

Then again, we foolishly franchised him two years running so what is he supposed to think? He's average at best and probalby wants top 5 money.

Great point. What do we do with this guy now? He's an average lineman who's had the franchise tag and is expecting top 5 money. I can't wait to see what happens next

Time to wash our hands with Starks. He got his truck load of cash and 2 rings from us. The guy is just NOT worth the cap hit

Let Starks rot.

And be thin at the position, if it must be.

I think the writing is on the wall for Maxi-pad. The FO is more motivated to work out something with Ryan Clark, plus they've got Heath Miller, Jeff Reed, Kiesel, and other more productive players to think about in terms of cap space. I'm sure the Jets or the Cards will pick him up after this season.

I've always loved my fellow Gator alum Starks but he is trying to hold the Rooneys over a barrel (good luck on that one). I hope this kid Urbik works out because they need to show Starks the door - he's fat & happy after collecting 2 rings & a lotta dough.

Amen. Would like to see Tony Hills force Starks to the right side and Colon to the bench.
