Fights in Camp Good or Bad for the team?

Postby thesteelhammer » Tue Aug 12, 2008 7:20 pm

from today's Beaver County Times
During a one-on-one pass-rushing/pass protection drill, tackle Trai Essex and defensive end Ryan McBean exchanged blows. The fight just lasted a few seconds.

“Just a little scrap,” Tomlin said. “Some guys get a little heated. That’s part of it.”

Nothing wrong with a little attitude during camp as long as nobody gets injured and they can kiss and make-up after.
Marines should come with warning labels.

Fights bring spirit and raise the level of intensity in practices. If you have ever been a part of a big time college program or NFL franchise you would know that. Most of the time they are good for team comraderie and only rarely do they spill over into the locker room.

as long as they have their helmets on and no one gets hurt then its not a big deal really. if we have what was it richard huntley vs earl holmes fight like way back that was supposedly huge that could be bad.

or steve smith breakin that dudes nose on carolina and getting suspended for 2 games... thats not all that good either

I'm not sure where to post this (and we cannot send messages here) ---> but the link for the "Subscribe to our RSS feed" on the www.stillers.com homepage seems to be broken, and I would like to subscribe.

I think fights can be okay as long as there are no serious injuries or bad blood developed.

Fights in practice are a sign of passion..... And passion is requisite to winning , in my humble opinion......

This is football, not boys choir......
Whenever Tom Brady loses, it's always someone else's fault.

But discipline is also required to win, and fighting shows a lack of it.
that kind of "passion" can result in drive killing penalties which can cause us to lose.
