good ridance!!!!!
So long to Larry Foote, if you want to go play for the Lions, be my guest. It's about time the Steelers get rid of this overrated linebacker who gets beat time and time again by slow footed rb's and te's. How good was Foote, the Steelers tried to trade him, but found nobody interested in this pathetic player who contributed nothing at all. Finally Sir Lawrence gets his due as starting ILB as he should have been last year. See ya Larry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: good ridance!!!!!
apparently he thought it was the steelers scheme that kept him "bottled up". as if dick would make one of the slowest LB's on the squad his premier backer...sorry larry, you were good in run support and occasionally grabbing a QB's ankle, but nowhere near as good as deebo or woodley. i have no hard feelings for him though, sorta like when peezy was cut...just business. i don't blame him for wanting to start elsewhere. i think tomlin mighta been doing him a favor last year by keeping him as the starter, even though he split time with timmons. probably trying to get some trade value out of him, but looks like it didn't help. oh well, i'd like to see keyaron fox get some snaps to see what he can do, he was solid in special teams, much like foote was before he started.

Re: good ridance!!!!!
Tomlin said in his draft day interview that they like the way Bruce Davis is coming along. I saw Davis at UCLA. He's got a big time motor, but needed to get his body to NFL standards. Way too light in the back side even for a LB. It sounded like he's Farrior's eventual replacement. I don't have the link, but I saw it during the draft. Sorry
Re: good ridance!!!!!
Mock this post: Keyaron Fox is the next defensive superstar. He will replace Farrior probably sooner than later.

Re: good ridance!!!!!
The guy started in two superbowls and served on an annual 1st or 2nd best defense in the league. All this from a 4th round draft pick. Why treat him like crap on these posts? I wish the best for Larry Foote - I enjoyed him while he played here - as most of you probably enjoy the superbowls. Don't let the superbowl trophys hit all y'ins in the ass.

If you asked which D starter we could MOST afford to lose, it would be Foote. They're paying Timmons 1st rd $ who's going into his 3rd yr in the league. He's ready, the D won't suffer a lick, & they now have some cap $ to apply to guys like Heath. Good luck Larry, we luved ya but we didn't miss Porter & we won't miss you.

WRONG !!!
Larry Foote never missed a game. He was dependable and did his job within the system. He had a big time interception vs. the Broncos in the AFC title game at Mile High. He kept Timmons off the field last year. Wheres the love? This man did a good job for us even if he wasn't the most explosive tackler... he could hang on until help arrived.

I don't post very often but I am going to now. I am very suprised in the negative feelings towards Larry Foote. I my humble opinion he was a good player that made the most of his ability. On top of that he was a leader and team man. How do you think Timmons has become a force, it is because he had two mentors, Farrior and Foote, to teach him what to do. Foote is also a stand up family man and has becaome a good role model for the youth. Good luck in Detroit Larry and I hope you help turn around that pitiful team, just not against the Stillers!

Re: good ridance!!!!!
Over the past few weeks i have been saddened by the response of some Steelers fans about the whole Foote saga. Was he great? No, Was he an All Pro? No, but he was a solid piece for us for many years, more then i can say for the guy he replaced. It always hurts to lose one of your own but it is a business after all. I to wish Larry the best and thank him for his years of service to Steeler Nation

I think this helps explain some of the feelings fans have about Foote's desire to leave.

Re: good ridance!!!!!
I wasn't really surprised by the reactions of this board. This community has long viewed Foote as the weak link in the linebacking core. He was servicable, no doubt, but was an overachieving, athleticly challenged player. I salute him for helping get the 2 rings and being a great teammate, but I feel we are better poised for 3 rings without him (and his salary). If he took a paycut and a backseat to Timmons, I would be 100% in favor of keeping him. I remember this board was actually pretty upset when we signed Foote to his extension deal...

Nobody is saying Foote wasn't a good guy - he did his duty. But he's got a lot of mileage on him, & remember, HE"S the one that wanted out of here. My gawd, is there any doubt that ANY of the Stiller LB's (Timmons, Fox, AHarrison) couldn't replace him???

He is replaceable yes, but thats not what gets to me. It seems like whenever a player leaves some Steeler fans begin to flame that player, stuff like "good riddance" or "He was never any good" is what i'm hearing since he left. Say what you will, Foote has done a VERY solid job replacing Bell when he went down.

Re: good ridance!!!!!
For the most part Larry was solid enough to fulfill his roles during a time when we won 2 SBs without leaving me memories that I would rather not have. As time passes, I'm sure that there will be few plays that will stick in my mind but they will all be the good ones. I'm proud to say Larry was a Steeler. I wish him and his family all the luck in the world. I think he and the team are both better without each other at this time and I hope I turn out to be right.
