Very good observation...what it means is another thing. I am assuming you dislike this draft and are trying to point out that Cowhers draft picks won the Super Bowl. Tomlin had two drafts before the Super Bowl. What do you expect, 10 starters? Woodley started, Timmons was a contributor, Mendenhall injured, Sweed 4th receiver. This was a stacked team when Tomlin inheritted it, there wasn't much need or use for immediate starting quality draft picks. Also, I am pretty sure Colbert is still drafting, the same man who drafted with Cowher.

I believe the Steelers wanted to move up to get Mack or Wood, but had no takers. Ziggy should help keep the aging line fresh and provide some quality minutes each game. We basically had a 2nd rounder, 2 3rd rounders and a 4th rounder. We took BPA at a position everyone agreed we needed help at and traded for 3 3rd round picks total. With those, we took a versatile guard, a speedy return man, and an underrated CB.

You complained we didn't take Duke Robinson or Jamon Meredith in the 3rd round in another post, but no one did until the 5th round. That shows me that no one liked them. ESPN's player analysis doesn't own a crystal ball. Just because they say Duke is a player with HUGE UPSIDE and Urbik is a potential 4-5th round pick doesn't mean Duke is going to be a Pro Bowler and Urbik is a bust. I will reserve judgment until I see them on the field.

What did we need going in...DLine Depth, OLine Depth/Starters, CB Depth/Starters, WR/KR. What did we get? You may not like them, but they were clearly the BPA to the front office.

the point being ,tomlin is unproven in the draft and alot of us mite have worn blinders to this fact since we just won the sb....

maybe no one had the line troubles we had the last several seasons and those 2 players were not a value pick for other teams? maybe the teams with bad olines drafted in the top 20 and got the big studs and had no need for 2nd tier players?

im just saying look at colberts oline track record, I would give benifit of the doubt to the insider scouts over him since he has shown nothing in the oline draft department to warrent anything else!

I agree, thus far Colbert has failed miserably on the second day of the draft.

With the lone exception being Will Gay.

We are a team in transition...we seek versatility from our players, unlike the Cowher regime, Tomlin has brought with him fresh ideas and working with coach LeBeau, a defensive strategist has made our defensive unit quite fearsome.

The offensive line is a serious work in progress. I dislike the entire right side, and I think Kemo is subpar on the left side.

I think, that the Kraig Urbick gives us versatility and experience. I think, he will upgrade our run game...somewhat. I think he will challenge and probably win a starting spot in training camp.

I am not overly impressed with this draft class. My draft board was quite different than the Stillers...but I know little about the selections compared to our FO.

Maybe with that fat fuck Grimm not picking meat heads our drafting success in regard to O-line talent will improve. For Christ sake we had the god of O-line coaches ya think he had a say in it.

The point you really made is that it took Cowher 14 years to win it all with players that he drafted and knew, and Tomlin did it in two, with Cowher's guys, besides Woodley.
