Madden retires

Postby lloydrules » Thu Apr 16, 2009 10:55 am

Kind of sad. Yea, his shtick was getting old, but he was a legend and he will be missed.

Ah, I didn't mind. Him letting you know it killed him makes it all the sweeter, in my opinion. I am kind of stunned he's still in good health at 73 being that heavy. In the later years, his stuff was getting unfunny but he had many decades of offering good insights and some pretty funny thoughts.

I especially like when he honestly pondered some stupid crap, like "I always wondered how the aspirin knows how to go to what hurts. What if your foot and your head hurts? How does it know where to go?"

his inability to tell an open handed block during a live play from a "punch" let me know that it was time for madden to go.

Would you rather have Madden or Collinsworth?
The former Bengal also shows no objectivity toward Pittsburgh.

But I never get tired of Collinsworth telling his story of Lambert lighting him up the first time his rookie season when he came across the middle. Jack told him don't even think about catching another one and Collinsworth said yes sir Mr. Lambert.

They oughta just hire Frank Caliendo to replace him. At 73 yrs old & probly over 3-bills weight, I would imagine hypertension COULD be a factor.

Loved the voice...but basically ignored most content over the past several years. I knew he was done when he was knob-gobbling Kordell Stewart during a Ravens game years back...

Personally, I am glad Madden retired, the great old man, blah blah.

I was always happy to see that he still has a bug up his butt about the Stillers after all these years.
