Why is that the Steelers and Pirates never seem to play on the same weekend every year? I live outside of Toronto and would like to do a trip down to the Burgh to watch both my favourite teams but they always seem to be every other weekend. Yes, I cheer for the Pirates.

i would venture a guess that it is just coincidence. most nfl cities also have a mlb team, so it would be impossible to coordinate those schedules for all teams. and even if they did that for a few teams, i don't think the pirates draw a large enough crowd to warrant it.

plus there are only 4 september games before pirates season ends... half could be away... and baseball teams are always traveling.

I once went to a Pirates game in the afternoon and Steelers exhibition game in the evening, it was a pretty fun day...

Also I would imagine having the Steelers and Pirates playing on the same day (which would almost have to be the case b/c baseball series often end on Sundays) could cause some major traffic issues in the Burgh.

If the Stillers are playing nobody would notice if there was a baseball game scheduled let alone go to the game. The traffic would be the same except for the added traffic for the Pirate players themselves and their mothers. Their wives would be at the Stillers game.
