Questions to ponder

Postby lloydrules » Sat Mar 14, 2009 1:14 pm

Will Ben ever win another ring? Yes.

Will he win 3 more to pass Bradshaw? I don't think that's likely. I'd be thrilled if he tied him with 4.

Will SD ever win a SB with Norv as head coach? NO. He's not a legit head coach. A nice guy and good OC but not a real head coach. A team has to be full of crazy talent with players on the team that give marching orders, like when Switzer won in Dallas. It is so hard to win without a real HC. Norv ain't one.

Will Philly be decent next year? No and it will be McNabb's last there. They got rid of their heart and soul in Dawkins and lost lots of other guys.

How many more wins will Mangini mean to CLE? 4 more year one. All he has to do is find a decent running back and a few more players on defense and they will flirt with .500 ball because they have an OL and he will bring discipline to the team - something that was missing and will make a difference right away. Obviously, Winslow wasn't going to toe the line and that's why they dumped him.

Will the Giants be a good team? Yes. They added some quality to the defense. Manning will rebound. And Plex or no Plex they will have some WRs to throw to.

Will Wade really turn tough in Dallas? Do you know of any 60-year-olds who could totally change who they are?

How good will the Pats be? I don't know.

These are all good questions:

I would add one:
How effectively can the Ravens D perform after this offseason's gutting? I think the Ravens are in some big trouble on D. With McAlister, Rolle, Leonard, and Bart Scott gone, I don't see them performing anywhere close to last year's level. Their offense, on the other hand, should get better as Flacco continues to improve.

How many more wins will Mangini mean to CLE?

I think the Browns are also in trouble. Mangini is at least somewhat (and INMO mainly) responsible for the Jets colossal failure during the last 5 games of the '08 season. The Jets' lack of discipline down the stretch cost them huge, so I'm not really sure he brings the kind of discipline the Brownies need. With Winslow and Jurevicious gone, and Braylon and Stallworth unreliable, the Browns have big problems at WR.

I commented in another thread and agreed 100% on your Ravens' take. They lost way too much on D to come back as strong, plus lost the DC.

The Jets implosion is hard to pin. I know that Mangini originally came into NY and laid out major discipline and they improved right away. I feel the Jets collapse had more to do with zero chemistry with Favre. Come to find out he didn't even hang in the locker room, he had his own personal room with a closed door; how can their be chemistry with that kind of thing going on

The Pats are going to be good. How good depends on Brady's health.

They are a dangerous, playoff-caliber team if he is healthy, imo.

They are declining, though. They are no longer dominant.

Yep. I think a Steelers-Pats AFC playoff game is inevitable, barring any crazy injury scenarios. IMO, the tide has turned in our favor in this rivalry. In other words, the Patriots will no longer have our number in playoff games. Why?

1) We no longer have Kordell Stewart at QB (remember the '01 title game?? ugh)
2) Big Ben is no longer a rookie, when they beat us in the '04 title game
3) NE's defense is older/in retooling mode.
4) Our defense has a much better pass rush than we did even 2 years ago.

So take heart everyone, evil-ass Billy B. and his spygate days are over. We will dominate this rivalry for the next few years.

I like our changes, but I am not overly confident. But the way you beat Brady, as NYG showed, is you get pressure on him. Pgh can now do that. We also don't overly play the rush (Like MORON Cowher did) and have much better pass coverage, which gives us a better show at beating NE as well.
