T.O. to the Steelers (this should be entertaining)

Postby fillstorer » Fri Mar 06, 2009 11:24 am

Argument for signing T.O. to a one year contract.
A receiver of the caliber of T.O. will never be this cheap.
T.O. has never been trouble for a team during his first year.
A Pre-madonna receiver like Randy Moss turned his attitude around after joining a winning franchise. T.O. may follow suit.
A team with Holmes, Ward, and T.O. would be a lock for another superbowl birth. With one more superbowl we share the decade with the Pats.
The Steelers have a strong enough organization to handle players like T.O. Dallas is pre-disposed to drama...
Steelers picking up T.O. would keep him from going to baltimore.

here's the problem...

he behaves for one year, and the team says "well that wasn't so hard, we can keep him around". then the cancer spreads.

We only need him for 1 year! If you resign him, do it year by year with an "Asshole Clause" in the contract.

He's an asshole and will eventually destroy team chemistry. He's never won shit. No way should Pgh spend 1 second considering it. And he is diminished in his skills any how

You have to admit he'd be a step up from nate w. and i'd rather have him running around as my #3 than slippery hands sweed. Anyway.. as soon as he acts up in the locker room, cut him. It's not like we can't win within out him... I think the potential benefit to the team far outweigh the possible risk. Especially given how cheap is he is going to have to sign for...

according to ESPN, T.O. was second in the league in drops last year, so he ranks higher than nate in that category. He's like an insecure women that needs drama all the time to make up for her faults. All I have to say to T.O. is :sufu: :sufu: :sufu: :sufu: :sufu: :sufu: :sufu: :sufu:

:suplusone: on that, he would cost us a chance at a repeat. On second thought it would be fun to watch him yell at Bruce Ariens.

Rosenhaus has said TO will have a new team by the end of next week. The Raiders have restructured the contracts of Fargas and Gallery. Is that coincidence? TO at least won't be in the same division. The Rooneys would not allow their team to become a side-show and the focal point of ESPN each night. Tomlin may command TO's respect for a year...but TO on the decline and just not worth the headache. The Steelers won a Super Bowl without him and can repeat without him.

The biggest problem with T.O. is the circle jerk of bashing that follows him everywhere. Players and fans get freaked out at the first whiff of a case of TO. If the media senses any weakness then the spanking commenses. It is just to trendy. Owens has 1n1/2 years tops in a good organization before the honeymoon is over.

Let him go to Oakland. He could use a situation where dissension is something he doesn't have to worry about kindling. A young guy like Russell could use a powerful target to aim at. Terrell will get a lot of passes... Hopefully Oakland* doesn't expose the fact that Jamarcus is a flop of a Qb, then whine at T.O. for telling Russell that he sucks...ect. Never underestimate Owens' willingness to call a spade a spade. :supimpin:  This could be a topic for the next few off seasons.

No way this happens.

My prediction as of 03-06-2009 is that TO goes to the Browns, with the Ravens a remote possibility.

. Owens has 1n1/2 years tops in a good organization before the honeymoon is over.

That is exactly my point! Sign him for one year. Don't intend on letting him stay past that. He'll probably sign for little to nothing because 1. no-one wants him. 2. we are a winning franchise which means he could get a ring.

After that 1 year, cut him. Win the SB in 2009 and ruin the Pats chance of claiming the decade.

If Pittsburgh was on the cusp of being a Super Bowl contender then there might be legitimate grounds to argue for T.O. to be a Steeler. They are not though, so it doesn't make sense to disrupt what has been being built. Limas Sweed is ready to develop into a solid pro. Bringing in Owens would throw off the balance of the offense. Besides, Owens doesn't want to be anyone but the main weapon. It's hard to imagine Terrell coming to a new team with the idea of being content with a subsidized role(#3), even if he was on a winning team. He is just to competitive. If the team wasn't winning and he was the most talented receiver. :suspense:

Jones was probably persuaded to release him because Dallas is going in a different direction offensively than they were a season ago. The contract Owens signed was under the plan that Tony Romo was going to throw, throw, throw. Romo is not what Dallas hoped he would be so now the plan is to run, run, run with Barber, Jones, and the underrated Choice.:turnback: There is always next off season though.
